Wasn't the Swiss but yes there's absolutely nothing wrong with IIII instead of IV.
My family has a c.250-year old grandfather clock with a IIII on the ornate dial - somehow I don't think the Chinese reppers are responsible
I don't know, have they repped the time machine from Back to the Future yet?

Forget about the watch, check out the [censored] on Archimede's avatar!
On Topic: I was talking with an engineer at work about the cost difference between 316 and 904 and he estimates that on a watch and bracelet Rolex MAY spend $100 total in the steel cost, depending on volume, how they machine it, etc. And yes, it has Nickel in it.
I should state those numbers are based on two guys standing around talking, nothing scientific.

I think it's funny that when the West messes up, it's not criticized as much as others. Do the Swiss never mess up? I think not.
The difference is that when the Swiss mess up, they make the best of it and turn it into a popular brand. See also: Hublot.

Bloody hell. Wife doesn't approve of the TopGun. Might have to put it up for sale soon.
I am sorry to hear that you may be getting divorced soon.
-
It seems like someone on here, and I am thinking it was RobbieG, knew someone who had the gen and had nothing but problems with the movement. But yeah, that rep is uglier than Rosie O'Donnell covered in whip cream on a Sybian.
-
Man, this watch screams bad quality, and the price endorses it. I'd say stay away from this replica.
I fail to see how you can judge this watch based on price, I can think of a ton of reps around that price that are awesome. Noobmariner, FA Jones, Tag F1, SFSO Lite, etc. This being quartz, it should not be too hard to make it awesome at that price. Not that I know, but it seems unfair to [censored] on this because of price. That is why we buy reps!
-
I ordered this earlier today and Lani is right, watch your ass where you order from. Angus is still advertising the old one at a discounted price, only now he calls it the 1:1 perfect version, what a joke.
-
I guess that explains why I got a message from Angus this morning about a clearance sale on the current Top Gun.

I think they knew what they were taking, I just think they're not the sharpest tool in the box to think there won't be any kind of comeback for it. As you say, Karma'll settle their hash for them
You are looking at it wrong, it was Karma that caused the watch to be stolen to begin with. That 70's show was awful, karma is coming back around to bite him in the ass.

V4 maybe?
Seems to me like a V2 case with V1 dial and V3 datefont:

What do you think?
Why the hell did they go back to the V1 dial with the missing tick next to the 10?

Was talking to Joshua about something else just now and he mentioned that he has already forwarded the info to you.
Anyway...his english name is Joshua Andrew King and Chinese name is WHO HE
I thought his Chinese name was Fuh Kar Yu.

The Orange Monster should be available almost anywhere if you are inclined for yourself.
I agree with recommending a Seiko but in the interest of coming up with other brands, have you considered a Luminox or Traser. Traser is the name they carry in Europe, Luminox in the US. Same watch. They have tritum tubes in them, they don't glow insane bright like I expected but they are always at a constant "glow" level due to the tubes. The only downside is some of the entry ones are a plastic composite material.
I also have several Zodiac watches and some have screw down crowns, but I can't recommend the brand. They were bought out a few years back by the Fossil watch company and quality went downhill. I had one that broke in a week that they would not stand behind.
-
Hands down, Seiko Orange Monster or Black Monster. Amazing lume, water restistant to beat hell and tough as nails.
-
Technically they are not reps, they are "homage" watches. I love when snobs on gen forums absolutely trash reps and then wear a "homage" watch, often times they are made in the same factories.
-
Its not just watches. In 1976 I paid $6 to see Kiss from the front row. This summer when they come again it will cost $150 to sit in the last row. Thats a 2500% rise in price, and considering these guys were making millions back then, how much are they making now? Go in to Hollisters and see what they are charging for what should be a $5 t-shirt! My 13 year old daughter hinted that she would like a pair of T&A Jeans, so I stopped in there store and looked at a normal looking pair of faded jeans.... $230!!!!
Has this world gone absolutely mad? I see 12 year old kids with iPhones for christ sakes!! Who is paying the $60+ a month to keep them running. About a year and a half ago I signed up with an internet provider for about $12 a month based on a 3 year commitment. Recently I checked my overly confusing bill to find it was now about $25 per month. When I called to complain they told me they had the right to increase prices, I just didn't have the right to back out without paying extra!
Sorry for the rant, but I just feel that I am being [censored] left, right and center, and I will have no guilt whatsoever downloading as much music as I can find, torrenting whatever movie I feel like, and wearing whatever Replica that I want. These greedy companies can just kiss my ass if they don't like it
That internet contact is [censored], in the states if you sign a three year agreement with the understanding that you will pay a fixed price and they decide to raise the prices and you do not agree then they must release you from the contract without penalty. I would continue to call and [censored] about that one.

The Brooklyn Bridge is important because of all the guido greaseballs there buying Panerai watches. You know the guys, dark hair spiked to the sky with enough gel and grease to lube a jet aircraft, wearing Ed Hardy shirts, and with fake spray on tan.

The 117 is a 056 with a display back as far as I can tell... which is what I am working towards making for myself except with a SS case instead if Ti.
Anyone know a way of making brushed stainless look a little more like titanium?!
Have it bead blasted, that will get you as close as I know is possible.
-
Thats not a 177, its a destro model. I agree that the 177 is a beaut -
Heres mine -
He never said it was a 177, he said 117.
-
This should be in the Want to Buy section.
-
The (Asian) Unitas is without question the way to go over the jerry rigged 7750.
-
The movement with chronos and date has been done, just in a different configuration. Check out the Breitling Blackbird.
Should clarify, the Blackbird config difference is obviously the seconds location.
-
Hey guys and girls,
...And, if i might ask, the titanium case is a problem? (in terms of replication)
Thanks people
cheers,
A.
No problem repping the case, they did a ton of different Ti models. Not sure about this particular one however, if nothing else you could probably piece one together.
-
Agreed, there is no such thing as a fully Swiss Panerai rep with engraved plates and swan neck. All of them have Asian parts added along the way.
Rep watches aren't the only thing the Chinese screw up
