  1. Mine arrived DOA today :( wound and wound the thing and the second hand never moved... I popped off the pack, can someone show me what the ETA stamp looks like??? I'm not sure I got an ETA because I can't see any kind of stamp

I guess I better email Jay...

    which colour did u order??

  2. $225 IS cheap for a rep like this.. afterall it has the swiss eta in it which makes it more expensive

in his post he forwards people to his site to view the sfso.... which is not found on his website.

so im pretty sure he means to look at the regular superocean,

maybe its the regular superocean with the sfso dial?

well maybe some pro's should judge hehe im just wondering why the rest of the world sells it for $300+ and he sells for $225 incl shipping( nearly as much as the sfso with asian eta)

I guess you didnt read this post on page 1 of this thread?

Cost pricing? LOL. Lets see... $1.00 an hour for labour. Say 1 hour for watch assembly. $40 for the movement. $20 for the case and bracelet.

Total manufacturing price is $61 sell to dealers for $150. Retail for $225. Not a bad gig. I am guessing with these numbers although I know average hourly labour rate in China is about $1. They are making money believe you me. No one in their right mind sells a product internationally with no markup. They are entitled to make money, no different then us. The Chinese are very good business men. For the same reasons why China now has the second largest ecomony in the world. Again, as I said in another thread... everything is about perceived value. If you think it is worth it and you like it, buy it.

  3. those are exactly the deminsions of the regular superocean... ( 42x50x15)

while the diameter of the sosf are 44x16,1 ( those are the diameter/thickness you would see from all the other dealers)

.... on http://www.silix-prime.com i can only find the regular superocean after a search..

in my opinion i think a $130 discount is quite a bit, if its all true then you got a great deal

the dimensions on silix site is not quite right, his dimensions should be 44mm, which is the same as Jay's one.

and it is true as well, afterall its not cheap for a rep -_-

  4. i had both white and blue ones. while in a trip in mexico, i met a guy with a gen blue dial one. and the color of the dial was very differnt than mine. so the difference is not just in pictures. when i came back, i sold my blue dial one and now i am keeping my white. its true that the AR is more noticable on dark dials but i love the AR on my white steelfish too. now i am looking to buy another watch with a dark dial and strong AR. because i somehow miss the AR on my blue dial steelfish. so i would say the black dial steelfish would be the one to get if you want it to be closer to gen with strong AR.

now this is getting interesting :o

  5. The blue color is spot on, as far as I can tell. The wristshot Italiano posted looks exactly like the rep blue.

My pictures of the SFSO have been taken in a studio setup and under fluorescent lighting, so the color might look a bit different in a natural lighting. They're also contrasted a bit.

The rep dial can look very different... even 100% gray, depending of the the angle to take a picture from. I might shoot some outside wrist shots next week for reference, and post to this thread.

man, now i am confused  , why is he saying "its not the same on the rep....not even close."??

  6. Re-read what I wrote.

It would be stupid of someone to buy a specific color choice solely because it was more accurate, rather than buying the color they actually liked better. Why buy a 2nd choice in terms of color just because it 'looks more accurate'? Other than stupidity, there is only one other reason someone would want to do that. They want to pass if off as genuine. The cost does not even come into the equasion. If someone's spending that price, it makes sense to buy the one they actually like the look of most, rather than 'settling' for something else, because it will be easier to pass of as genuine.

pls re-read what i wrote as well :p

IMO, its not stupid, let's say u decided to spend that much money for a rep, and u went for a colour that can be easily spotted as a rep by others, how does that make u feel??

its simlpy unwise to go for a colour that its far from its gen, and not go for the one that's closer to the gen IMO...
