Have him remove this lip on the lathe. The tube will sit flat and doesn’t change the case. Easy

It’s definitely not “just the same movement.” They share 90% of the same parts but there are extra/different parts to add the 24hr function. I don’t have my manuals on hand to tell you exactly which ones but that is how it works on the 31xx calibers (and pretty much ALL “families” of calibers as well). There is a base design and slight variations for different functions.

You can use a 1570 and modify it with the alternate pieces. So yes it will transplant but no, not directly.

Why would you want to downgrade a 1570 to a 1520? It’s an inferior movement technology wise. But yes, it can be done by swapping the appropriate parts.

Any watching maker capable of servicing a genuine 4130 will be capable of servicing this one properly. Gen parts are available but expensive. Hopefully they will sell individual movements at which point spare rep parts will be available.

Any chronograph, but ESPECIALLY modular chronos like the LWO283, should be run periodically to spread the oil and keep it viscous. Never running it because you’re afraid to use it will only cause the oil to dry faster, shortening its service life.

Do you think its worth servicing the movement as soon as one gets it from a TD? 

Movement materials are quite a jump over SH3135. Nearly all gen parts do work. Some of the bridges were a bit of a struggle to fit. Gen autowind is a straight swap. Not sure about putting in a gen balance. I really don’t see much that needs upgrading besides Autowind, jumper for minute counter, setting jumper, setting lever.

Only downside is the build QC of the movement. 2 of mine came with rusty autowind parts. One was seized and the rotor didn’t even wind. One click spring was snapped, one setting lever busted, so... yeah.

I have tried to install a 7030 Clark tube on my vietnam case and it snapped off inside. I was lucky enough to get the broken piece out but I still need to install a new tube. Can anyone lead me to a online source where I can purchase this? I am local to Ofrei but I can not seem to find it on their website (or I am queuery-ing it wrong)
 
Heck if someone can loan me one I can send it right back. I'll pay for shipping both ways of course...

I looks like an Eta with an aftmkt rotor and red wheels (for looks) and a 24 hour conversion. 
 
I have one from 10 or 15 years back with an Eta 2836 and Asian 24 hour conversion.  The 24 hour hand is not adjustable on mine and runs half speed in sync with the 12 hour hand. 
 

V6S or V7. Newer Noob cases will even fit a gen movement perfectly. Good luck.

And be sure that the gain is adjusted on your timegrapher properly. I’ve chased problems that didn’t exist because there was “noise” in the reading.

The earlier the version the better it’ll fit. As time has gone on they’ve gotten worse and worse. The V5 and lower are great. V6 OK, V7 is a pain in the ass but doable.

My guess is that it’s magnetized. Sudden and extreme positive rate increases are almost always magnetism.

I had to machine a movement ring to keep the movement center as the hole is slightly too big and also lift the gen 3185 "away" from the crystal just a bit. That lined the stem up correctly. There is a slight gap but I used black acetal so you barely notice it.

So does this have the right movement? I hate the confusion over SA vs SH...

I've seen some extra tall dial spacers but haven't found them to purchase separately. Likely the rep makers include them in certain builds. I wish they were available on the open market.

Another consideration is that any additional height added to the dial will start to offset the stem placement. I'm currently experiencing that with an SD4k. Used an extra tall dial spacer thinking "why not" and now the stem won't insert. Just gotta find time to rip it apart and start over :/

That's an SH. Even looks like the "3132" engraving is improved. Some I've seen are pretty rough.
