  1. I pre-ordered it - think beta tester... should be released for public ordering soon. I think they are waiting for full Honeycomb release for public sales... Google just released on Honeycomb so it should be soon.
  2. Not a Xoom but I did get my Notion Ink Adam last week and am very happy with it and at $500 for a totally unlocked and open source device it is much less expensive than the Xoom or iPad - plus it has USB, HDMI, etc. ports lacking on the others. Will have to wait a few weeks for Honeycomb update but I have hacked the ROM to EdenX (custom ROM based on core Froyo/Gingerbread hybrid and give Market access) and it is working very fast and smooth - plus it has Flash - Xoom doesn't yet... Blows away my iPad... I really liked the PixelQi screen today while in full sunlight I could use Google Maps navigation in the car with no glare. Downloaded the new wave of games designed for the Tegra 2 machines like Xoom and Adam - Samurai II Vengeance is awesome. My link
  3. I think the lighting has a lot to do with the DLC color. In photos it can vary from dark black to pencil gray. In person the DLC is more grayish I have had both DLC and PVD gens and the PVD was definitely darker. IMHO - having owned both the DLC is far superior - not even a contest... I am going to have a PAM case DLC'd for me soon Here is a pic of one of my gen DLCs - looks very black here in this light: Looks pencil lead gray here:
  4. DLC Rubberclad Flyback Chrono today The "pop" on this dial face is unbelievable - orange peel dial with raised markers outlines in 18k gold.
  5. These new Sinn's look good -- not great IMO but nice Once you have had a chrono with left-side pushers I doubt you will go back I will let you try to figure out which one I have: Left-side chrono pushers Central minutes hand In-house SWISS auto movmt Display back Rotating inner bezel 43mm Carbon-fiber face A work of art. BTW -- as nice as the left-side pushers are -- the central minutes indicator is my favorite chrono feature - so much more usable.
  6. Orange Monster (with bracelet and rubber strap) en route Merry Christmas to me
  7. Corgi -- It's an auto -- the gen it is based on is a handwind however.
  8. Looks like she made the trip across the planet in one piece Pics look great - hope you enjoy her -- she is a beautiful watch
  9. My only Ti currently - but I do have my eye on another -- watch that is though I agree with TWP on the best "shot" of the day -- having trouble keeping my eyes off those as well .
  10. That's bad news TWP The 177 is my favorite PAM -- though I am more of a 177G guy myself
  11. Winter get-away in Scottsdale, AZ - the Valley of the Sun and GOLF Summer get-away in Estes Park, CO - cool in the summer and lots for the kids to do
  12. Great to see River back I ordered my wife one of his ladies Rolex Masterpieces several years ago. He used to be able to source the best of these -- not sure if he still can. It is probably the best rep I have ever purchased. She wears it everyday and it still looks/runs great. She has several gens but won't wear them - prefers the Masterpiece and doesn't have the stress of worrying about a $$$$$ watch. I have thought about contacting him to see if he can still get them to order a future replacement if needed. Welcome back River
  13. I have one -- will try to post some pics tomorrow when I get home from a trip. I think it is a great look Looks very classy IMO I've had it a few months -- never worn. The bracelet was too short (I take XL straps) -- got an extra link from the seller but just haven't had time to adjust it. I will probably sell it soon anyway -- have my eye on another gen
  14. Congrats on the Skyland! I had the SS version on yesterday at my AD. Very very nice watch also my favorite current Breitling. I previously had a gen Chrono Av (and the rep of course) and think they really hit all the right buttons with this new Skyland. I was hoping they would have a blacksteel version but alas no luck -- said maybe next month as they are getting many new and special pieces in prior to a major Swiss watch event at the AD. I was wearing my gen GP Sea Hawk 2 USA-71 (on bracelet) yesterday which is 42mm - I was suprised that to my eye the Skyland (45mm) was no larger (though much thicker). To me, my 44mm PAM is visually larger than my USA-71. I have nothing but rave comments about the Skyland but it really wasn't fair to compare it to the GP which to me is one of the most aesthetically pleasing divers ever crafted and the best bracelet by far that I have owned. I do want to see the blacksteel Skyland however -- but it will have to super impress to make me switch from my current chrono sport watch the GP R&D-01 -- the central minute chrono indicator, four subdials and left-hand chrono pushers are superb
  15. GP actually developed a series for the BMW/Oracle team - the USA 87 isn't my favorite either (though the std. edition R&D 01 is awesome). My fav is the USA 71 Carbon Fiber Glory On the wrist With PAM177 Very nice lume
  16. I agree with the Watchboys recommendations -- back when I had my 213 I had black and honey Watchboys crocs and they were perfect
  17. I have had both 111 and 177's (both rep and genuine in both ) My decision was to keep the genuine 177G -- I much prefered the "sausage" dial to the newer "sandwich" dials -- also with the 177G it was limited production for only one year and 500 pieces -- not limited edition but rather limited production -- so it is nicely collectable -- much more so than the newer editions (H, I , etc). I personally preferred the 177 to the 111 because it fit better into my collection in the titanium -- this PAM is a weekend tool watch for me -- and I love the titanium look with a black shell cordovan strap Both are very nice -- personally I would go with the 005 logo the 111 if you were going to go stainless. BTW - having had both 111 and 177 I will say that the 111 scratched much more easily than the 177 does, I know everyone says Ti scratches more -- but my experiece with a number of watches is the opposite -- and small scratches rub out easily I have found.
  18. Richard -- the fact that you came into this thread BEFORE I did -- and the fact that you haven't had any work done with Joe (to my knowledge) may make your AGENDA in this even more clear BTW -- I rendered no "professional" opinion on Joe's motives -- just MHO. If I were to render a professional opinion, I would no doubt be called out for taking too long, charging too much, not providing the services listed, not treating the supreme board comanders with proper respect, etc. etc. -- there are alot of people around here who are good at flinging those excuses around
  19. Richard, Since your altrustic mission here on RWG is to "inform the members" I feel the need to express a couple of points: 1. TwoTone's refund from Joe was not a result of being "called out" but quite to the contrary was a proactive refund by Joe at the time of initial delivery. This was gathered from TT's own initial post. It is also apparent that TT has mis-represented the actual price paid for the mods in question -- no offense TT as I can image the exact price from several years back could be forgotten but Joe seems very willing to post what the actual fees were -- but the point remains that Joe was crucified for something that may have been mis-represented. I find it understandable that he could have gotten angry in that situation. 2. I have seen mention of several watches finding residence in NC for quite a period of time However, I have yet to see where a watch has become a year-long NC resident that wasn't there for very special mod work and with the notification that such work would take considerable time. I could certainly be wrong -- all I know is what is mentioned in the posts. For everyone's edification -- my "full package" 1680 sub mods were performed and watch delivered within 3 weeks. 3. Richard -- I have to believe that you were pulling those numbers out of a place where flying monkeys usually flee as an example. Let me pose this question... What if 5% of Joe's customer's were unhappy in some regard with his pricing, time to completion, or craftsmanship? What if it was even 10% ... there are many respected companies that have customer satisfaction numbers lower than that! Judging by those posting issues with Joe, I would put forth that guess-timate as reasonable. The squeaky wheel usually gets the grease as they say -- especially if there is a mob of zealous "protectors" ready to oil the squeak People can react in crazy ways -- believe me I see it everyday! I have a feeling that there are a few people that perpetuate these anti-Joe ravings simply because they have the perception that the work they willingly and knowingly chose to pay Joe to perform did not make their fake watch be the wrist grail they had convinced themselves it would. It is easy to see how their ego could have been damaged and how it could be much easier and more comfortable to blame Joe than to accept the realization that their expectations were likley unrealistic. As an illustration -- I personally think that EL is the most fantastic seller on RWG -- he has never let me down and I would recommend him to anyone! Yet I see posts where others are unhappy with his communication, quality, etc. -- now EL doesn't make a spectacle of himself like Joe does (thanks EL) responding to complaints so publically -- but what if the RWG gang decided to jump EL because "back in the day" one of the mods or favored children of the board had to wait longer than expected for a watch to arrive. Or what if the watch had a seagull instead of an ETA that was discovered two years later. Or what if the watch had a mineral instead of saphire crystal as advertised! Would they demand that no one ever buy from that seller again! And heaven forbid if someone posted that they had received an excellent watch from the seller -- would we deride them -- question their identify as real -- make others believe that they were sleeping with the seller, etc, etc. (in other words do what has been done to those posting a favorable response about Joe). 4. IMO, Joe got banned because he wanted to get banned -- it was Joe's way of making his point (right or wrong) -- he knew what he was doing and would get banned -- it furthered his point since TT posted his information in a similar manner with no recourse -- it was Joe's way of making a statement and in fact martyring himself (in his own mind) in the process. You see Richard -- you and Joe are very similar in how you react and respond to situations (grammar skills aside of course) and that is why there is such disdain and butting of heads -- not because you are so opposite you can't co-exist -- but rather because you are so similar in how you respond even though your particular mindset and personal beliefs on the facts of the issues differ. I know you are shaking your head in disbelief and your teeth are grating against each other -- sorry Just like Joe, you need to have the last word, feel so strongly about your convictions that you can't see the other side of the situation, make judgments and decisions that at times defy logic in the view of an outside observer, have difficulty controlling your emotions, gain considerable self-esteem from your work quality and reputation, are very sensitive to personal criticism .... I could go on ....... 5. Who said friends can't profit from friends? That is absurd. My financial advisor is a friend, my doctor is a friend -- they also certainly profit from my patronage. One of my best friends own a company that I generate VERY considerable income from each year -- providing a service they request and value very highly.
  20. Richard -- After our previous fracas I thought we had come to a gentleman's understanding and a degree of mutual respect -- I guess I was wrong I know your self-image as a "crusader of the rep watch world" provides much internal satisfaction and online bravado -- it is just too bad that your fervor at times outruns your goodsense and politeness. As I recall -- that was part of our earlier war of words......... It seems to me that you and your cohorts on the ones offering blind assertations -- I simply provided my own impressions of my personal dealings with Joe. When a man's reputation is assailed by the mob mentality that prevails on this board at times -- sometimes people feel called to provide a counterpoint -- I knew I would be attacked for providing my personal experience ... oh well .... it is just an internet board I enjoy the hobby but I am thinking my time here is also likey coming to a close -- I have sold all but a few of my reps (yes for all you conspiracy theorists I am still holding on to one MBW that Joe modded for me). My collection of genuines is keeping me more than occupied and the lack of personal drama and accusations on the purist boards is so refreshing. I better get back to work -- one of my "supposed" clients is waiting. I think I will let him in on the "questionable" nature of my profession and see if he laughs
  21. Denise -- kind of irritating isn't it. If you are like me -- you enjoy this hobby and have had experiences with Joe that met or exceeded your expectations Others on this board don't like Joe (just in case you hadn't noticed) -- most with NO personal firsthand experience of actually being a customer of Joe's. There is quite a clique here on the board and unfortunately Joe is the unwanted outsider -- and if you dare to post with a positive feedback on Joe you are either an idiot, actually Joe himself -- or some poor sap who just hasn't gotten taken yet in the scam. Now don't get me wrong -- I don't think Joe is some kind of Super-Modder who selflessly gives of his time and talents to those less fortunate. He is a regular guy (with poor internet grammar) who has an interest, talent, and the resources to work on watches. It is a side business for him (and yes he is free to charge what he wants for his time and efforts just like I do in my business) -- he appears to have health problems and has to deal with personal and family issues like the rest of humanity -- why is that so hard for some people to understand? IMO Joe is certainly opinionated -- but IMO he is by far NOT the MOST opinioned person posting in these threads. Who cares if he is opinionated anyway -- this is an internet forum for replica watches -- the only reason most people post here is because they are opinionated and want to share their opinions with others! Before all the Kooks and wacko conspiracy theorists start to flame me -- I AM NOT JOE! I haven't talked to Joe since last year! Joe has done work for me in the past and I am a satisfied customer! When I read that Joe is sick or he is having a problem -- I pray for him and genuinely hope for his recovery -- just as I do for anyone here that I see in a similar situation. I have nothing against any other watchmaker on this forum and have also used others and been just as satisfied. IMO some of the complaints against Joe are likely warranted -- but MANY are just a concerted effort to damage Joe personally (I think I know why but would likely be completely savaged on this board for expressing my perception). I disagree with Joe's decision to leave this board as a service provider -- but I completely understand why he felt the need to -- why continue to put up with the attacks? I occassionally read a negative review on a seller or modder that I have personal experience with -- and in almost all cases the issue is dropped almost immediately -- if people provide their counterpoint or suggestion there isn't an outcry of outrage .... but with Joe it is like open hunting season on people with would dare to post a favorable feedback or comment from their actual personal experience.
  22. Glad to see you are feeling better Joe. These "jump on Joe" threads always make me a little sick My experiences with Joe have always been first rate -- I don't doubt that issues arise at times and people get frustrated -- these are not things unique to Joe. RBJ isn't the watchsmith at our local AD afterall -- he is a hobbyist like the rest of us who has the interest/skills/desire/equipment/etc to work on our items that in all honesty may be fun but are still not exactly "above board" products. We can expect service like we get from our local AD's from the seller's and others (like Joe) on the board -- but in reality we will likely be dissappointed. I had a genuine in for service for months with little to no communication -- and that was a $5k item in to a top manufacturer's official service center -- seems like maybe we go a little overboard in both our expectations and accusations here sometimes -- just IMHO
  23. I have been looking at getting a white J12 for my wife -- anybody have any insights into which version is the best? (value for quality) -- There seem to be several different versions with a large price difference. BTW -- I got my wife one of River's RLX masterpieces almost two years ago -- It has been an excellent everyday watch for her
  24. How about Callaway X-20 Irons (5-PW) Right Handed Men's with standard X-20 uniflex shafts?
  25. Same experience here I have a few of these Chinese winders in nice looking cases sitting in the junk drawer None made it a year... definitely need to view as disposable. I also have a Orbita that was $275 it is flawless for two years now. I am looking for another Orbita or for a Softwind (Primadyn) -- have heard excellent things about them as well.
