  1. Again...you really need to read the guide. There is no ranking as all the dealers for the most part can get 90% of the watches you want. There are only a few high end factories, and the dealers here (unlike MOST of those out there) have access to these factories. Some reps aren't available by all dealers...but most are. They're all top grade replicas. By best given the type of questions you're asking you mean best out of the box...for that you have to read the reviews...because best out of the box depends on the particular watch. Some of the reps (most of the new ones) are very accurate...but some of the flaws may drive you crazy if you have an eye for detail. Again...judging by your repeating of questions...this does not appear to be the case. You have to decide for yourself which watch you want based on the reviews...because the one you want might not in fact be available in a high end form. Read the guide. 'Nuff said. Toad out.
  2. So I was reading this one thread asking about the popularity of Rolex and Panerai in the rep scene, and Demsey made what I thought was a pretty hilarious quote: I also liked Chronus' quote in my signature, and I was thinking to myself there have to be other gems that I've missed out on posted by other members here. What are some of your faves?
  3. Like others have said...Rolex is one of the most recognized luxury brands in the world. One of only a few watch makers who actually make the top 100 list of most recognized brands...so for that reason alone there is no surprise that Rolex would top the list of reps. Read the 3rd page of this thread with By-Tor's summary: Top Brands Panerai is popular because of mainstream popularization of the watches by people like Sylvestor Stallone, Bill Clinton and others who made the brand stand out. There are a few PAMs I think are interesting...but for the most part, I'm staggered by their popularity as their designs really don't vary much. I wear Rolex and Omegas as those are what I was raised on/with. Love this quote!! Nice one Demsey.
  4. That's because the best dealer FOR YOU depends on a number of factors. Where you are located...price...speed of delivery...communication...possibility of modding before shipping, etc. There is no "best" dealer...just the one that's better for you. Unlike most of the sites on the Internet, the dealers here have pretty solid reputations but ALL of them have had multiple complaints placed against them...as with ANY vendor out there. You will get a watch...they won't steal your money...it will run properly...and it will not look like junk when the picture showed a genuine watch. Read my Noob Guide...all will become clear. The list of dealers is linked in there as well.
  5. www.rwg.cc That's the best site. Go here to learn about watches, what makes a quality one, who to buy from and what to expect. Read my Noob Guide to get your questions answered. It's linked in my signature. Welcome aboard. Buying cheap replicas for high prices is easy. Pick any website you get email spam from. Buying good replicas with accurate descriptions for decent prices takes work...and it's not as easy as saying "Who has the best XXXX?". Read my Noob Guide for more details.
  6. It is a looker. The gold hands and the SS case are a nice complement to each other.
  7. A father, lover, and fighter...perhaps in that order...and successful in all aspects. I do project management for large IT projects.
  8. I can't help thinking of Monty Python's The Life of Brian: "Alms for a leper...alms for a leper"
  9. He's a member...Chris will get back to you with the problem.
  10. There was a post on TZ of somebody doing a custom PVD on a Pro II bracelet for their Blacksteel. There's a post here of somebody using the SS buckle on an Ocean Racer strap with their BS...that looked fine as the buckle is such a small presence compared with the black of the strap.
  11. Solid gold President with diamonds. This was in my High School and yes, it was gen. The school was a bit crazy needless to say. I wouldn't say half the kids had expensive watches...but it certainly wasn't unusual.
  12. I've seen used Speedmasters for $1300 CDN locally. These would be an excellent buy. You could even get a vintage SS Datejust on The Bay for around $1300 USD...maybe 1980's vintage. Depending on how long you've known your fiance, or when you/her were born...you could go for a model from that year.
  13. The rubber Breitling strap is a bit big...depending on how you measure the 6.5" and also how tight you wear them. I've seen people punch extra holes in the strap. It doesn't look as good as the holes are "molded" into the strap. It fits a bit loose on my wrists...but not so loose as to not do it sometimes.
  14. Very nice. Keep us posted on how the movement fairs for you. Did you get the ETA/Clone or the Asian movement?
  15. I'd work hard to post and get past that one quickly!! Yowzaa.
  16. I've bought cheap Bob straps from the links for straps at the "Links" link at the top menu. They aren't as beefy as the rep straps and are not branded...but they do the job...and are cheap!!
  17. Scrap? You must mean STRAP. Are you wanting real croc or alligator or the rep croc/alligator strap? If you are looking for the rep straps, I bought mine from Angus (Puretime). Peter (Watchstation) can get them as well.
  18. It all depends on what you mean by performance. If properly serviced, friction in the system should be minimal and there should be limited to no wear on the parts over the life of the movement. Maintain servicing through regular cycles, and parts will not wear out until years and years down the line with life expectancy similar to a gen mechanical movement. When serviced, proper regulating can bring the watch easily within the "performance" COSC specs of the genuine Valjoux/ETA movements. This has been proven time and time again by the membership here. HOWEVER, I don't think you'll find anybody who's qualified to work on a 7750 movement who will say that working on them is as easy as working on an ETA engine as there are problems with parts availability, the initial dirtiness of the movements and some other idiosyncracies which folks like The Zigmeister have pointed out. Once serviced though, it should follow that successing servicings will be easier as things were put in proper order at the start.
  19. You must be talking about Dluddy's PVD Pam 028. That is one heavily modified (modded) piece. You can read about it here: DLuddy's PAM 028A
  20. Read my review on the Skyland. You'll realize after that...the wrist size to wear this watch is meaningless. What matters is how much of a MAN you are.
  21. That looks great!! How's the strap??
  22. With leather, I think the issue is more that the lug horns on my 3717 are as sharp as blades so they should be softened or filed down a bit. If they were not like knives, I probably wouldn't have the problems of the lug horns cutting into the leather or in your case, possibly fuzzing the nylon. I'll have to try this and see if it helps.
  23. Congrats on the piece. It is quite beautiful. I've been tempted by this one on more than one occasion. It has such a nice feel to it.
  24. Indeed it does. That's why we're so lucky to have The The Zigmeistermeister on deck!! I think in many respects it takes MORE skill to work on the A7750's than the ETA/Valjoux because of the idiosyncracies of the Asian movements, the inherent dirtiness and difficulty in getting parts.
