  1. Things you learn! Ignore my previous post then. I was thinking the older version of the BCE when I was looking at this watch. The new ones are screwdown...the old ones weren't. My confusion...blame it on old age.
  2. BTW...the chrono pushers I don't believe are screw in on the BCE...only the crown...you just have to push them.
  3. The "regular" seconds hand is the chrono seconds hand...and only runs when the stop watch runs. You start the stop watch pressing the top chrono pusher, and stop it by pressing the top chrono pusher AGAIN. You reset the chrono by pressing the bottom chrono pusher. The "seconds at 9" are the REAL "regular" seconds...those are your running seconds. Read the guides on how to use a mechanical chrono. You should NOT be winding your watch manually for 5 minutes. Read the posts in the Noob Guide to find out why winding your A7750 driven watch is a bad idea. Because you upgraded to Supporter...I'll even tell you where to look in the Noob Guide: STEP 4 - You've got the watch...now what??
  4. Welcome aboard and congrats on becoming a supporter. Read the links in my Noob Guide linked in my Signature on the A7750 movement. You should generally not wind your watch with the middle thing which is called a crown. Movement on the seconds hand should start after a few gentle swirls of the watch. You will need to pull the crown out to set the time obviously. To do so...you will need to unscrew the crown, and you will find there are 3 positions which you'll feel as subtle "clicks" that the crown can be pulled out. In the all the way in position, that is the winding position. In the all the way out position, you can set the time, and in the middle position you can set the date (turning one direction will change the date and the other will change the day). DO NOT SET THE DATE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF ABOUT 10pm and 3AM or so. This applies to the real gens as well!! Read the posts in the Noob Guide for more details.
  5. Ooooh...I feel your pain. How frustrating...and funny at the same time. Tell him to get all his repairs done in KL...they'll be much cheaper there!!
  6. Very nice pics!!! What was the VAT assessment on this?? The Discovery is a fantastic rep. You wear it well.
  7. The concept is the same with a bench grinder with polishing mop or a dremel with soft polishing bit...read HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.
  8. Hah hah...I beat you to answering by seconds.
  9. Not uncommon. You have to use them when you have to cut off the dial feet when transplanting a movement that has the clamps in different locations (e.g. swap of an ETA movement to a dial made for a DG2813). Look for Dial Dots at the bottom of this page: Ofrei Dial Dots In the pick below...the dial foot broke off: ...so a dial dot equivalent was used (essentially 2 sided tape of a proper thickness)...look at the tape over the #3:
  10. Wow...at least you have enough grease you can slap on a wheelbarrel axle to stop the squeak.
  11. Remember that with the Exp II you are talking a specialized modded movement that has the GMT module added which is different than the basic cheap Asian movements or un-modded 2836. That being said, these movements are harder to have serviced regardless of being Asian or ETA because of what they have done to add the 24hr gear to the drivetrain, and the assembly of the post to the GMT hand. The Asian will be a [censored], and the ETA modded 2836 (gen ETA or Asian copy of ETA) is difficult to service as you will find if you search for posts by The Zigmeisterzumba on these movements. If you search for posts by By-Tor on the ETA GMT modded movements you'll find he has had great success with the IHS ETA. The CHS ETAs are considered timebombs. Normally in my responses I provide the links and do the searching for the users...but this time, I don't feel like it ...so good luck with the search.
  12. The only thing I was wondering about is that given that Watcheden is now considered "within" as an Apprentice Collector...is there an "idolreplicas" connection that is considered part of RWG now or is that site just some hosting connection site like CQout? THAT is the question I was getting at. Thanks for any illumination!
  13. The confusing thing I just found now is, in doing a Search for idolreplicas...I find this post from Watcheden: http://www.rwg.cc/members/everyone-WatchEd...hl=idolreplicas The picture of his CQOut userid of tonyxkf comes from the idolreplicas site. How does this work??
  14. The movement probably needs servicing. Unserviced 7750's can last a year...many times longer. A serviced a7750 can last a lifetime, but needs a cleaning and oiling every 5 years. Replacement movements are probably around $150+ shipping and a movement swap if you can't do it yourself is around $100. Contact Peter (Watchstation). He should be able to get a movement for you.
  15. So you had to essentially have a "donor" cheaper UTC bracelet just to get that half a bracelet that would work...or did you have to get a whole donor watch for this?? Which dealer was able to source this stuff for you? The final product looks great!!
  16. Judging by your other intro topic HERE and with its accompanying posts...I know you don't want to have to spend time here to get the information you want...but if you read the Noob Guide linked in my signature...you'll find that your question has been asked a million times before...and won't get a lot of response from people because of it. I'll give you some free info just to be nice. Like AllergyDoc says...all the dealers carry it...choose yours using your criteria as which one is best for you...depends on a lot of factors. You'll find links to the recommended dealers here: Dealer and other useful links...just ask for the V3 DeepSea We don't know where you're from...so we can't even recommend a "shortlist" of dealers. Read HERE for more info. I guarantee this will be the most info you will get from your query for info.
  17. Welcome aboard. You found yourself the most knowledgeable and helpful watch forum around. To make a long story short: - Read the Noob Guide linked in my Signature - Read this post on Customs Problems Shipping from China into the EU - Read this post on somebody who doesn't get that people aren't going to spend their time to help somebody who doesn't put in time: He Just Doesn't Get It
  18. As Dluddy has said...be careful what you plan on doing if you want to obtain a gen 1570 movement. For clarification (or confusion) on issues of the caliber stampings on the 1570 vs 1575 movements that you might be having a little confusion with...read this thread: The Zigmeister's Restoration Thread on a Gen 1655 As a side for a similar idea of movement conversion (not accurate for a 1655 but interesting reading regardless) read Freddy's thread here: Freddy's Conversion of a Rolex 1030 to a 1035 GMT for a 6542
  19. Those OP pics are HOT!! I had some similar to those purchased in the late 80's...man I wish I had pics of them before I tossed them.
  20. Congrats! As others have said with rep watches...there are issues of not really understanding what reps are all about...plus the issues of use, reliability, maintenance, etc that make them a bit of a pain to give as gifts. Cufflinks are good if the lads are dressy...and are something they will likely use down the line. The Zippo for the one friend sounds like a DEFINITEY MUST!! Gifts with meaning/story are the best to get...even if they only cost a few bucks (I know a Zippo is more...). You could even go unconventional and use an online book printing service (like MyPublisher.com) and put together a mini photobook of the gang...stupid things an good memories from the years. It will be a bit of work having to scan images and whatnot...butt hese can be put together for as little as $20 and will have far more meaning over the years than probably anything else...I guarantee it.
