  1. You're 6542 is the reason for wanting to go plastic my friend!! That perspex insert is smoking!! I was checking my Antiquorum catalogue looking at the GMTs with the pepsi perspex insert. WOW!!! OK...now I'm going to have to look into this CWP thing a little more!! Thanks!!
  2. Lying to people that are idiots and asking stupid questions of strangers however...is FAIR GAME in my books.
  3. Funny...got a spelling error on "manufacturers" though.
  4. Wow...quite the venture. When I saw your 1675...that really made me want to go down that path for a piece like that...but I'm thinking of one with an old perspex insert. I don't think I would go as far as doing CWP for a redial...that just sounds significantly out of reach in terms of effort and dollar. I suspect they won't just redial anything...you must need some kind of gen dial stock to start. Is this correct??
  5. The gen actually glows blue at the orange markers at 3-6-9:
  6. Even better...read the Noob Guide linked in my signature...it's not as easy as buying something from the corner store.
  7. I was going to stop at "Rolex"...maybe go as far as "16520" and hope that's all you were looking for. Are these a few pieces you found lying in an old shoe box that you forgot you had?
  8. That looks great!! I would still upgrade to Supporter to keep this place alive...and to keep all the encouragement and compliments coming.
  9. Hey TMG...nice trio!! What's the story on the CWP Redial of your 1675?? Who is CWP and what was entailed in the redial? Did they have blast the old printing off, and re-screen-print the whole dial???
  10. But do you like it here or there? Or do you not want it anywhere? . . . . . .
  11. ...well in that case...you need vintage. Anything current or modern will be for the fashionista fad-follower. The connoisseur goes for that which cannot be bought from the corner store...the vintage line of IWC...but perhaps a real, vintage IWC...or a Rolex 6542 project...or something like that.
  12. I don't have specific posts...but have read in general that Steinhart's are supposed to be good homages at great prices. Tourby's watches might be in the range too: Tourby Thread You should PM him and see if there's anything he can offer you.
  13. Do you want a chrono or not? If you can only have one and need a versatile dress and sports watch...I would go the BP as it dresses up and down reasonably well depending on the strap. Chronos in generally look more sporty which if you're more of a casual guy...you might find the 3717 (I'm assuming you mean the 3717-01/04 as most people do) better for every day wear. The BP 5002 I understand to be more accurate and better out of the box. The 3717-01/04's can often have crooked markers at 3-6-9-12 so QC can ruin the experience of getting the watch.
  14. ...or is that better Multiple Personality Disorder or Trans-horological??
  15. ...and here I was giving you all the credit when all you did was Snipe some other poor sucker.
  16. That looks great. Where does one go to find somebody who can PVD stuff? What's the proper search in a phone book??
  17. Seamasters anyone? Nice collection.
  18. That's exactly what rep buying is all about...buying something you like at a price point that doesn't make you feel guilty. Congrats and thanks for posting this.
  19. It makes you a Cyborg. Man Looking at Boobies: Are those real? Woman: Duuuh...yeah...REAL EXPENSIVE.
  20. Not me...but Freddy and Ubi can i'm sure.
  21. No sweat. I thought it was funny...and although current given it was written in Jun-2008...still clueless for the most part to the rep world. Somebody some time back put up a post saying they were a pilot and wanted to know the best pilot's watch to get for a pilot's collection listing things like IWC 3717-01, B&R's, Breitlings, GMT Master II, etc... I said from the pilot's I know...the cornerstone of their collections is a Casio G-Shock!!
  22. Digital is good! Funny that you should post this...I woke up this morning to a bunch of snow and thought I needed to put on the Skyland and change the strap as well...so I ended up going for a DiModell Imperator instead of the rep deployment.
  23. Great reference...now I have "Low Rider" running through my head. THANKS. IWC is probably the most understated of the high end brands...generally only known by watch hobbyists. For the most part PAMs are the same way. The general populace is generally not interested in watches...and if they are, they know Rolex, the women probably know Piaget and Cartier, and some possibly know Omegas. Few in the "wild" will know Glashutte, Ball, IWC, etc...and some may know Breitling and Oris...but even if they don't...their designs are so much more big and in-your-face...they lack the undestatement of a connoisseur (IMHO...I still like them...but for a different purpose). Omega Speedy's are pretty understated as far as the popular brand goes because the designs are based on a history of utility. B&R's are just plain silly to me.
