  1. The arrow/square is available from dealer's here as well. It was a difference in the year of the SOSF release. If you look at the Breitling site, their flash driven section for the SOSF model shows closeup flashes of the dial...the first flash is actually the older square second hand, while the pic of the watch shows the current arrow. The watch if it's the same one is highly regarded and referred to as the Asian Fish or Asian SOSF. Whether or not the movement is high beat is of debate, as the movement is likely a DG2813 which is a slow beat movement. The high beat movement is the DG4813 and nobody but Chris at Eurotimez is using these in reps.
  2. Brutal. I know how long it takes to assemble all these parts...and finding somebody who can work on them is something to come across a stumbling block like this?? Is this an El Primero driven Daytona project??? Good luck...I"m sure there will be some good advice coming from some of the more learned members.
  3. Nice! I think that's one serious looking watch. Looking good!! Your lume dots look great!
  4. Awesome Nanuq. I do miss it up there...just beautiful. Those are some serious fat boys. What are they??
  5. I've bought an ETA based ladies DJ that was fine. The engravings you don't really notice as much until you look at them. The only issue I had was that the crystal was installed crooked...a not too uncommon flaw...but that is easily fixed.
  6. Do a search on the new case or caseset of the SMP by Takashi...it sounds like it's the same case but a different dial. I've read somewhere that somebody got a replacement crown and tube from one of the collectors that fixed the problem...but the issue from what I understand is the thread pitch causes premature wear...and that's why the gen part albeit more expensive is better in the long run.
  7. Correct. This is an excellet rep out of the box. The Aquatimers are also great out of the box...and there is an expensive MBW or something like that (I'm not sure) Ingy that is well thought of. I wrote a review of the Spitfire...you can look for that...and it's linked in the IWC guide.
  8. Hah hah...same from me. Consider this an early greeting to make up for the time I'm late.
  9. Yes it is. Watchstation has a V1 updated with fixed lume dot @ 3 and triangle lume @ 12 (I call it the V3) for around $215 in PVD. Angus is supposedly releasing the V2 Blacksteel with the same blacksteel process as the gen in about 1 month, but no price. I can't imagine it will be under $300. There is no bracelet available, although some users on gen forums have PVD'd the SS bracelet.
  10. You make cardboard boxes sound like a bad thing. They can be quite cozy...and they can be composted. I call mine green living. @Tictoc - yup...read the reviews and you will start to see a theme with the dealers. Each has their pros, and each their cons...so few are "perfect". The cons on the more "perfect" ones might just be price, but for some, that's enough to be a deal breaker...so you have to figure out what you're willing to put up with. I've dealt with about 6 dealers, each with multiple transactions and have a personal view of what works for me and what doesn't, and I haven't had a really bad experience with anybody yet. I've had to send watches back of course, and have had bad QC that I've put up with with others...but hey, that's how we roll. You shouldn't take any one users experience here as definitive...but should look for overall themes of service to get a more accurate view of things. Have fun..that's the key...and don't take this too seriously.
  11. I"m assuming this is the A7750 version and not a quartz or 21j? Regardless...the blue stuff should either just peel off, or in some parts, you can scratch it off with your nail (e.g. crown). That's just protection. I have found that yes, when placing an order, their response time for most of the dealers is pretty fast. When there are problems, the response time is much slower...but, all the dealers I've worked with recommended here have eventually come through. It sometimes takes up to 2 months, but things work out. I always say it's a bit of a gamble this rep game...and it's equal parts excitement over what you will get, vs. meeting expectations. If the thing isn't ticking it all...it might be the rotor is not working (loose or gear has slipped) and may need a manual wind to kick start things. You can see if it's a manual wind issue and manual wind it GENTLY for a hand full of turns. Don't manual wind an A7750 as a general practice...a gentle swirl to get things going should be sufficient. If it works then...try wearing it and see if the rotor will wind things up and keep things going. If it won't work even with a manual wind...then it may be something more serious. Either way...you may have to do a return to get another one if the movement is crapped out. It should cost around $20 and take up to 2 months. I've been there and done that a few times...never without a problem except for anxiety the first few times...or, if you know a watchmaker, you can have them look at it.
  12. That's pretty nice. The dial does look great with that strap. How did you do the ageing??
  13. Welcome aboard...and bummer about Global...you wouldn't be the first on this board to have that experience. As to which to get? Really...go for both if you can. They are totally different watches. Get the Explorer in white dial...and you're set.
  14. That's weird...how was it held on to begin with? Do you have pics? Closeups obviously are best.
  15. AAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!! We needed a definitive answer. Thanks for the great write up, and smokin' pics as always!!
  16. It's a Bulgari...but anyways. Do a search on waterproofing for the dealers (I can't remember the proper string), and you'll find that most people say collector statements about waterproofing shouldn't be trusted. Don't take it swimming unless you grease the gaskets and get the watch pressure tested. Some have good luck with theirs...others don't. Movements A7750's are usually dry and dirty. A cleaning and servicing is a good bet. Do a search on A7750 material...you'll find lots of info. Welcome aboard...come back and post pics when it arrives.
  17. Hah...sucker...there is no cure except increasing your credit limit. I look forward to the pics. Give it a week or so from the time you get your tracking number which might be around late Sunday. I just ordered a rep brown croc on deployment from Angus. Hah hah...fun fun. I was going to order a Tabacco brown from Bob's but given the price with deployment from Angus is so cheap ($55 with shipping vs. Bob's ~$35 incl shipping but NO deployment)...I thought I would go that route. Screw the clasp...deployment all the way.
  18. There you go! That should help make up your mind.
  19. Thanks so much...especially coming from the "Test Master". To be honest...all the versions are good I think. The differences are pretty small in actual life. I'm very happy about the quality of the reps these days...amazing...but it cracks me up thtat this thing is just shy over ethe cost of an Asian SOSF.
  20. Don't forget the "mysterious" charge on your credit card from the mystery company so the PP doesn't associate things with RWG. I'll bump the Admin thread. They've been having problems with people filing charge complaints which may get another PP account shut down. The P&S is great for general usage and highly recommended to have around...especially if you are going someplace and don't want a big camera around and want a low profile. Another option that's good is the Canon 650...essentially the G9 without external flash control and a few menu changes for a lot less money.
  21. The Rebel series is great value. The story goes...buy the cheapest body and most expensive lenses you can afford.
  22. You've double posted. Mods / Admin please consolidate post with: Grimey's Other Stripped Crown Post
  23. Toads man...them's toads with the Rolex coronet. I'm a nature lover.
