  1. Hi, Has anybody tried the Anchor watch tools? I saw them from a site for super cheap gen Croc straps that Lady V had recommended. International Watchman They have gen croc straps for US$39 Bergeon style Rolex Caseback tools for US$29 and arm pullers for US$7. Has anybody tried these??
  2. You should try looking at the collector sites as some of them you can order the straps for them...but you need to make sure the measurements are right. I would seriously consider getting a new one, with a new Asian 7750 and working chronos. You should be able to find the same watch, but in a significantly more accurate version, with much better bracelet.
  3. We were onto Gritstone the other day...from Guelph. There are a few 'Nucks on board...welcome.
  4. Hah hah...funny. I had a friend who thought that her parents were so concerned for her spiritual health because every Sunday she was sent to church with her grandparents, only to find out years later, that was when it was time for her parents to have sex.
  5. PHHEEEEEEEWW. Good move...now that they've removed that sticker...the counterfeiting will stop. I wonder how long before CN is able to copy the clear sticker properly.
  6. Ditto...I was thinking the same thing!
  7. Because the Cousteau Divers and the Slevin are soooo much nicer...
  8. No sweat. Maybe if it was written in ALL CAPS IT WOULD BE EASIER TO UNDERSTAND. HAH. My wrists are small, but I still just ordered a 2006 Cousteau Diver. I'm hoping it doesn't seem too large. I tried on a gen SOSF and it felt good on my wrist, in spite of them being only 6.5"...maybe because although my wrists are skinny, my forearms and arms are larger than average...nowhere near Lanikai large...maybe like a Lanikai thumb. I couldn't pull off a Bell & Ross or a Pam I don't think...and I think the BCE seems bigger than a SOSF because the dial layout is much busier.
  9. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I think they are saying that they are not so concerned with the wall clock, and that they are getting the more expensive watches so they regularly would get 25% discount buying in the US, compared with buying in Sweden...and that as a joke, that with the sinking US dollar, that discount would soon be 50% on the exchange rate alone. Nice watch!! I like stick markers too, but for some reason, the SOSF intrigues because of the big numerals.
  10. I've been waiting for mine for close to a month now. Jay has been waiting on the arrival of my 3717-2 before he ships the rest of my order. It's taking forever for the Spitfire to arrive. Sheesh. Every few days I write him, he replies that it should be coming tomorrow, or expecting it in a couple days. Oy!! All this waiting aggravation for the "hope" of water resistant testing. Jay said he would test both the Cousteau and the Spitfire before shipping...I'm not trusting that statement, but I'm hoping this will at least improve the odds of it passing a test when I bring it to my tester upon arrival.
  11. Check the internet cafes for people reading the boards...or the postal outlets for people waiting for packages shipped by EMS.
  12. LOL...buy this watch...make you kink long long time...
  13. Believe it. I have seen more overall bling (either cars, jewels, clothes, hair) on university campuses than most places outside of Friday Happy Hour on Bay Street (the Canadian version of Wall Street). When foreign students can afford $20K tuition per year, 5 flights a year overseas, have BMWs, Benz's, or souped up street rods, and live in $750K condos bought for them just for the school year...gold watches are nothing. My High School had most students driving cars far nicer than those driven by the teachers.
  14. And thanks to your dropping dollar, I can afford gens but prefer to buy more reps instead!
  15. I've had a few returns to China...and have never had a problem. Follow the return instructions from your collector to the letter and you should be fine. The only problem I've had is that Josh's boxes are too small for regular postal service, so I have to use a bigger box in order to get cheaper shipping, as Canadian postal services have a minimum package size for regular mail, but not for courier service. Canada doesn't have the same problem with bringing in watches (counterfeit or otherwise) as Europe or the US. Packages don't get seized here unless you are dealing in commercial quantity. Be honest with the customs declaration and you should be fine: "Novelty fashion watch...value US$15"
  16. Even lower...I have ordered a $275 2006 Cousteau Diver from Silix. Angus says the QC problems of bad dial printing and dust have been fixed...but I understand that the centering is still an issue, albeit minor, as the dial will center if you turn the adjustment crown a half turn (and it stays there). I've been waiting for this thing from early Feb, as I change the order a few times on Silix, resulting in having to wait for 2 watches which Silix doesn't normally carry, but had to get for me (a white dial Franck Muller Crazy Hours Colour Dreams, and a white dial 42mm IWC Spitfire chrono 3717-2...the latter being the one that's causing delays). When it arrives I'll do a detailed write-up of the new CD.
  17. Yup. Considering a used sub in good condition can be had for around $3,500, that's just over $1,000 per year...or just under $100 per month...or under $5 per day...easily manageable by most people. If you CHOOSE to not do this, that's one thing. If you CAN'T manage that...you shouldn't be buying luxury watches.
  18. I have found most anything goes...from pieces of ugly junk, to decent mid-range watches. I've never seen anybody with really expensive watches (A. Lange & Sohne, Breguet, tourbillons, etc). Rolex, Breitling, Zenith are popular around my group.
  19. Not in Canada...just illegal to sell. @Lady V: That's why you need to move your collection to the boyfriend...it's safer here...albeit colder.
  20. Yup...without childcare costs, I could buy a Fiddy and a handful of Subs every year...or enough reps to...to...keep up with Lady V.
  21. Yup...my Costco sells Rolex, Baume & Mercier, Oris, Tissot, and have had the occasional Omega in. Mind you, they are not carrying full lines and cannot do special orders...they get what they get...and what they get is on display. As to the Tire guy...if he owns the franchise, he might well be wearing a gen. There are people who are working the front on restaurants that serve $6 lunches that are wearing gold Rollies, I would believe they are gens given the success of the restaurant.
  22. Sanro...you don't need to justify how, why or when you got such a nice piece. Everybody should have a passion for something and pursue that passion, and should not need to apologize to anybody for doing so whether it's watches, family, travel, or really good coffee. Those who have yet to find something that gives them that much drive are the ones I feel sorry for, as they have yet to understand what makes them happy.
