How can people not like "chick flicks"? That's where the chicks are. HAH. Loved Devil Wears Prada...was amazed at Borat...can't say I enjoyed it...but was impressed by how much jaw-dropping I did and it being essentially a high-risk improv venture. As to the watches...I'm thinking of that retro panda 6263 after elprimerozen review found here: Elprimerozen 6263 Review. I don't really notice the assymetrical pusher flaw, and I do like the acrylic tach ring instead of the usual printed metal. The 37mm width is nice...not really a big fan of the fixed hour totalizer at 6...but I don't use that function too often.

That car is looking amazing!!! We're to get 15cm of snow tomorrow in the Land O' The Zigmeister...just like Sunny California...but different.

What TV series are you currently watching?

It's lookin' like a President bracelet. I'm loving Dexter these days...great show. I really like the dark humour and latino vibe...fun! I really like Spooks too...MI5 to the North American folks. That's a good edgy spy show...The Unit is fun as well...guns and covert ops...but with feeling. -
Ooops...I just answered my own question with a bit more reading: 3717 Strap Sizing It appears the 3717 case lug width is 21mm, but some have put 22mm in with no problems...minimal to no compression. The alternative is a 20mm but that leaves a gap, and the oversizing of the 22mm means only 0.5mm per side which is negligble.

Ace! I'm thinking the black on black might be better than brown on black. Do you know if the Di-Modell Imperator 22mm is the one that fits properly on the 3717's?? They don't seem to have a 21mm...

However...it does have the cool expanded date window...and Angus says you can swim with this one...that alone might be worth it!! Other FREE features are, it also has everybody's favourite serial number!! The REALLY important question is not "what the point of this" is...it's "Pug, how would the PVD look on a brown croc strap?"

It's true...there are some glaring flaws in the watch. But, I have to say I do like the design of it, and the proportions are nice. How often do you get a newly released watch that's under 44mm?? The fact of the matter is, that people who are able to spot rep Rollies are few. People who are able to spot rep vintage Rollies waaay fewer. People who are able to spot rep vintage Rollies with a high degree of confidence, and tell you WHY they are reps, are probably limited to this (and other similar) boards. Given the rarity of a real 6263, and the price point for them being the cost of an SUV, the odds of bumping into somebody who has actually seen one in person are probably next to nothing. I certainly wouldn't wear one to an AD, but I certainly wouldn't wear any of my reps to the AD...so what difference does that make.

Breitling SFSO on croc strap with deployment buckle

I do like the white dial brown croc combo much more than the bracelet. Nice pics too! -
SD4K summarized it nicely here: Doppel vs Top Gun Both of the watches are double chronos in reality, this one obviously isn't. Essentially, they took the Top Gun caseback, same dial, no ti pushers, pvd the 3717 case, non-functional 10 o-clock pusher...blah blah blah... I still like it though...like Pug says, it's a Fantasy, but a good Fantasy.

It's juuuuuust right...

INDEED...yeeha!! "That was some of the best flying I've seen to date - right up to the part where you got killed. "

Hey Lanikai, You may think that my response below is me being generous with knowledge, but it's actually quite self-serving. I read your posts all the time...and love them. If you turn to a photo-guru like Pug or By-Tor, or all the others, then hey...that's good for me and everyone. Clarity on closeups is a combination of a lot of stuff. In point form: =================== TRIPOD =================== - Use a timer if it all possible so you don't get the shake of the camera during long exposures when you press the release - Long exposures using available light (ie. no flash) mean ability to have better Depth of Field (see below) - The steadier the camera the clearer the image =================== MINIMUM FOCUS DISTANCE =================== - Every camera has a minimum distance you need to be from the object in question - Go TOO close...and you will have a fuzzy picture - Better Macro cameras/lenses allow a closer minimum focus distance ==================== DEPTH OF FIELD ==================== - This will determine how much is in focus essentially (relative to foreground/background) - Determined by aperature (f-stop) - A change in f-stop has a great visual impact in macro photography...and the usual deal for lots in focus is to have a larger f-stop - Serious macro lenses may go f-32 or f-64 I think - If you have manual or aperature priority capability, this will give you greater control - Shallow DOF is good for highlighting a particular section of a movement...greater DOF is better for making up for pushing minimum distance, or ensuring more of the object is in focus, or making up for difficult focussing because of crappy viewfinders/screens ====================== ISO/ASA and LIGHTING ====================== - If you use a point-and-shoot digital, the pictures usually become significantly grainier or noisier above ISO 160...so you need to stay below this...which in turn means you need more light - More light may mean more glare which means the image isn't as clear - Softening flashes helps immensely with this...hence people using "lightboxes" so you don't get the "hot spot" with the flash...especially on shiny 316L stainless steel - Digital SLRs are usually waaaaay better for having minimal noise at high ISOs. I've had great results with minimal noise when using a Nikon D200 with an ISO setting of 3200 ====================== LENS SHARPNESS ====================== - The more expensive pro-grade lenses have a fixed aperature of f-2.8 throughout entire zoom ranges, and have really tack sharp glass - The better the glass, the clearer the image There's more...but this will usually hit most of the bases.

It's usually 7 days + 1 to Canada. You can track on the EMS site until it hits Canada, and like others said, by the time the status is changed, you'll have it in hand. You will need to sign for it, so if you don't have anybody at the door, it goes to the local postal station where you pick it up and sign for it. No biggie. I've not had problems in Canada by either EMS or standard international air. Both services get here by the same local carrier. EMS is consistently 7 days or so...but international air can be as fast as 7 days, or 2-3 weeks on a slow shipment (nothing to do with the collector).

IWC Cousteau Diver 2006 and 2007 Caseback Swap
Toadtorrent replied to Toadtorrent's topic in The IWC Area
Great to hear. Thanks Takashi. AND...thanks for a great review of the watch...now hurry up and finish it to get to the conclusions...I'm having a hard time holding my breath. To those who may read this, I'm referring to this link at Replica Watch Connection: Takashi Review - Cousteau vs Slevin -
Hey Sander, Good job on the wood insert for the caseback. How does this wood insert fit in? How does the metal Calypso fit in? Did you remove the caseback and insert the new wood piece from the back, or did you pop off the sapphire from the outside on re-insert? Have you tested how the modification works underwater (in other words, if you had to remove the sapphire cover, is it still water resistant?). Thanks for any info.

Hi folks, I'm thinking of taking the plunge on the 2006 Cousteau Diver given the current price drop on the unit. I would be taking this piece into the swimming pool very regularly, and I'm a bit concerned how the "wood" or fake wood insert on the 2006 case back will hold up? I know it wouldn't be accurate, but does anybody know if the 2007 engraved diver caseback can be swapped into the 2006 version? Is there a source for these casebacks?? I like the 2006 dial more than the orange on the 2007, but think the 2007 back would hold up better than the 2006 back. Any suggestions?? Thanks all!

Yup...teachers can be very underpaid if they actually do the all the work expected of them (but not required of them)...coaching, mentoring, helping those few special needs kids, preparing good lessons, etc. It can be alright if you just coast and not take the job seriously, but that's bad for you, and bad for the kids. The first few years of being a teacher are the hardest as every course you are teaching will be new. You need to build up your own "package" of lessons, labs, exercises, etc...run through them with multiple classes before it becomes very easy. As to an MBA...you are talking night and day compared with teaching. If you are concerned with 9am - 3pm...you will be VERY disappointed. Depending on the job...travel 50% or higher is not uncommon, working very late, long hours is not uncommon. You could be going anything with an MBA from org consulting, financial consulting... The MBA programs are mostly about opportunities to network as recruiters hit most of the big schools looking for fresh meat and great, lucrative early positions can be found. You will learn a lot about "how" to do things...apply formulas, respond to RFPs, etc...but very little on the theory. Good luck!

Package just arrived in Canada. Thanks Offshore...awesome!

I assumed so...hah hah...very funny. We get tea shipped from the UK as care packages...

HAH HAH HAH...Tim Horton's??? Who's your supplier? Get rid of the Gaggia...get the Rancilio Silva...the only machine for WIS as they can be modded too...kind of like an MBW except GREAT out of the box...or a Faema (their shop is close to me so I go in to peruse every now and then). I use a Bodum too...

That's too true. However...add the gold into the equation and it's much heftier as in the TT version. Some folks will take their "accurate" hollow mid-links bracelet and knowlingly make it LESS accurate by replacing it with a solid mid-links in order to add heft, claiming that althought it isn't as accurate, "it just feels better".
