  1. As JKay said above, QUALITY reps aren't cheap...cheap reps are cheap. There are good value ones...but if you're looking for something high end, you're going to have to pay more than 35 GBP. Is the one you picked a good one? No. It's tripe. The bezel insert should be ceramic and have "engraved" numbers that are gold filled. I don't believe a full gold black dial exists...but I could be wrong. The movement is proprietary and cannot be duplicated as the regatta timer is adjusted by rotating the bezel so this will always be a big flaw. As well, the movement functions are total fantasy on that rep. The subdial at 6 is supposed to be a running seconds at 6 and on the rep pictured looks to be a calendar function. The other inner ring is supposed to be the countdown timer and on the rep pictured has some weird non-continuous number thing going on. Is it worth 35 GBP? Sure...but most fake looking watches are. Sorry to be blunt...but that one sucks. To be honest, there are no Yachtmaster 2 reps in any quality form. They all suck...which isn't a bad thing because the watch is kind of ugly anyways. The watches listed on the dealer sites in the links section are from dealers that have some degree of history or proven track record from the various members here. They provide some degree of customer service and stand by their products. They won't sell crappy versions unless specifically requested to do so. Read the Noob Guide linked in my signature for help to get you running in the rep world.
  2. I would go for the Top Gun...slightly bigger, cool ceramic case and fewer QC problems over crooked markers than the 3717.
  3. Yup...dem's looking like gen catalogue pics...don't know if I would trust the site on that basis alone.
  4. Awesome...mmmmm...Pepsi Bakelite 6542...that's one of my Grail's.
  5. My understanding of the modded 7750 is that it should not "stop" like a true manual wind movement. Manual winds you wind until they stop and you're done. With the a7750s, you wind until around the range it would stop. Try winding to 50 winds and see if that gives you any more juice on the PR. My 6263 is a Seagull ST19 and it takes about 50-60 for a full wind.
  6. Lani's answered it all... ETA prices are going up...so an ETA movement at $400+, and the movement swap at another $100 adds to $500 compared to $200 for a full service. If you have no one to service your A7750's, servicing a gen ETA is easier...but costlier to start out.
  7. The McKing reigns again. Thanks for taking the time to do this R...they really are a treat to view.
  8. Modern watches generally are lumed with non-radioactive material. The T stands for Tritium which isn't really used anymore...so more rare if it's gen.
  9. Congrats. That piece is a looker!
  10. Yup...I think most knew how the Admin Team was going to respond and that is the integrity of the Team. I also think it's important that they should know the Community believes in the honesty of the system and the people running it. Thumbs up!!
  11. I wouldn't say it looks stunning, but it suits it as an option of being a tool watch. Nice results on the pic BTW. How do you like the light box?
  12. Is it too late to build a secret watch vault in the house?
  13. There's some truth to Stephane's statement. I can respect why Mods and Admin team wouldn't participate because of optics, but I do believe that as long as they are removed from the operation and selection process, then it shouldn't cause a problem. Like the raffles over at RWI, the selection process is based on lotto numbers from some draw that anybody can watch live so no way that it can be rigged. In reality, I think every raffle is rigged when I don't win...but I still participate. I will vote YES.
  14. Hi Andy. Can you swap over the datewheels or do you need to do an overlay transfer going from a 2813 to a Miyota 8215? Is there any cannon pinion variance that you are aware of? Thanks!
  15. Windsor is good...close to 2 other 3 rep friendly watchsmiths who can work chrono movements in Toronto and Oakville. As to the City...well....
  16. COOL. Nothing like some bellows work. How's your tripod? I'm interested in going DSLR purely for a lensbaby option...similar idea.
