  1. Super or not super-rep...one thing's for sure...at that price? Super value!!
  2. Bezel fonts different too...as is the rehaut and the date font...case is different. My bad. It looks like the Pro-Watch took the old case and PVD'd it instead of using the newer thick CG case. Finding bezel markers will be next to impossible. If you want to go down that path it will be labour intensive to remove them and remount and prone to lots of error potential. Anything can be done...it's time and effort that's the issue. Most people would just get a new dial for between $20-50 for a rep dial that's standard in availability and the sky's the limit for the rarer stuff or gen.
  3. There seem to be a lot in the $40 range including shipping that sit around the 40khz range...so those appear to be better. I wasn't sure what the frequency was for cleaning...at 40khz...it might be that of the New Rolex Scream.
  4. They both look the same...just different angles. These are the ceramic series Pro-Hunters. Consider the Sinn U1 and U2 too...Ti case...slick!!
  5. Great write-up...and of one I'm considering...so very timely. Great stuff...and a grand contribution. Thumbs up!!
  6. Thanks for all the replies folks. I realize the pro units are full commercial units. I wasn't sure what the proper frequency was for cleaning watch parts and Freddy answered that. RoninQ also suggested attaching an adjustable DC power supply and ramping up the vibrations a bit (shortening the motor life...but at <$10 worth trying). The issue for me is I wouldn't really know if things were properly cleaned or not. As RoninQ says, I'm no The Zigmeister or Freddy333.
  7. If it can hold dental appliances it can hold watch parts. The cleaning is for gears and parts (not the cases or bands themselves...I'm not concerned about those) and would be contained in tiny cages that look like loose leaf "tea balls".
  8. With rechargeables being possible, it's almost worth the gamble. The ones I was looking at through the watch part/tool wholesalers were listed in the $400-700 CDN range, so this seemed "too good to be true"...but not knowing what's involved in a cleaner, I'm not sure if this is actually adequate for watch work.
  9. I saw this on the Bay Canada (item # 390087639748): as a battery powered ultrasonic cleaner for $1.49 + $6 shipping from Hong Kong. Described as follows: Product Description Brand new ultrasonic cleaner! ON / OFF switch, easy to use With suction base to avoid slipping when vibrating Great for both professional cleaning and personal use Suitable for cleaning: Electronics component, mechanical part, pen-head, printer-head, watch part, coin, badge, machine nozzle, small silverware; Glasses, sunglasses, contact lens accessories, optical lenses; Jewelry, waterproof watch, ring, necklace, earrings, diamond, bracelet and gemstone; Denture, comb, toothbrush, electric shaver head, razor, and dining appliance; Tattoo guns and tubes, and piercing tool; CD, nipple, fruit, anything you can image to clean!!! Power: 2 X AA battery Vibrates up to 6500 times / minute Product size: 7.5 cm in height, 9 cm in width Container size: 4 cm in height, 8 cm in width Is this actually usable for watches? For <$10...that's cheap.
  10. You've taken more care on yours than I can be bothered with. Great stuff. Glad to see you're having fun with it...it is a hoot.
  11. The last pic above is of the older non-ceramic one. You can leave the lume dot as is...and see if it bugs you, depending on how the one you get is. The problem is QC on these is all over the place so some are nicely filled in, others not. The big difference on gens is that they have a tiny sapphire crystal over the lume material which the rep factories DON'T apply. The Watchmaterial pearl has it. Whether it's worth it to spend the money on the Watchmaterial is up to you. If it's your first rep, I wouldn't bother. Get what you get...see if it bugs you. If not...forget about it. People who complain about such things are Watch Idiot Savants...you may become one...but if you're not there yet...forget about it. As well...forget about Josh's waterproofing service. Don't trust this. They may not do anything. You would be best served having the testing done when you get the watch by a local person who can do testing. They'll likely take your money and not do anything...read the info on my Noob Guide or search for it here. It's generally considered a money grab scam. Good luck. It sounds like you're having fun with the decisions and the queries and that's what matters.
  12. There's different techniques for reluming the pearls. Some just say get the watchmaterial pearl and leave it at that but I don't think there is one for the ceramic bezel series of Rolexes. I don't think I've read of any pearl lume suggestions for the thicker ceramic bezel pearls come to think of it. Essentially...just applying lume on top of the existing pearl. A bit hard on these ones though, because the newer style (ceramic bezels) have the lume spread across the whole frame instead of being a "zit" in the middle of the tiny pearl cup which can be modded with more lume and a clear coat. It sounds like you're getting a plan of attack. Good luck.
  13. Don't get me wrong...it's an amazing watch, but I don't think it's available anymore is it? I haven't seen any of the usual suspects carry an Emergency, or seen one being released in the last 4 years. The older rep supply dry up is an issue. For a current one, I would like a real Ti version with the big honking font on the LCD screens with the grey on black. Your jet logo is amazing though.
  14. Mine was a TT Rolex Day-Date. 10 years later, the QUARTZ movement was still going strong, but the gold looked like faded dog [censored] on moldy cardboard. I tossed it...and now feel bad as it would have been a good benchmark.
  15. We are indeed on the same wavelength. I almost bought a gen of the Emergency. I love that. If there's a high rep version of it out, I would buy it.
  16. That video is great for people who are unfamiliar to what to look for on the pressure test. As an aside, for those that are interested, the Home Brew Pressure Tester link is HERE.
