  1. Search for reviews on the new 29j movement...it's essentially the same movement...they just took away some metal on a couple gears to reduce contact area...not really an improvement...it's still a crapshoot. Go to Francisco's section and look for his review of the movement. I think it was him that did it...
  2. WOW...those don't come up too often...man...wish I had the cash!!!
  3. Ubi's pictured in this thread is a Concepta modded one...beautiful. Yeah...as said above, the running second hand dial in the 6-o-clock positions (aka running seconds at 6) has a modification done to the A7750 movement to move the running secs from 9 to 6-o-clock that involves adding around 13 gears with no jewelling which is like adding gears without bearings. This means all the extra work the movement has to do to power the extra gears results in decreased lifespan. The one you have pictured in watcheden is the problematic movement. This applies to the Daytona models with the 6-o-clock seconds as well. The cheaper alternative is to order one of these, and have Avitt do a DLC treatment on the mod plate. The DLC reduces friction...not sure of the cost...is not as good as a jewelled movement...but better. Some have said a graphite treatment on the movement has brought new life to theirs...others have said it doesn't last long. The gen is only mechanical...hopefully this helps...sorry for the bad news...I want one of these too...but have stayed away because of this problem.
  4. The reps still have shock protection...they should be as durable as the gens in this respect. Remember though, they are delicate mini mechanical marvels...so they still wouldn't stand to being bashed by a Big Bertha in frustration from a sand trap landing!!
  5. If you can afford the gen movement and case mods, the Concepta portos are FANTASTIC...and undeniably, THE BEST of these watches. PM Concepta...and look for these on this site...quite something...
  6. The 35th Anniversary is a great watch. This watch will give you an idea of what this watch is about. It's not overly "accurate" as it is not a high end rep. The chrono subdials are not operational as stopwatch counters but are date and "24h" time indicators. Does this mean it won't be a nice watch? Nope...it wlil still be a fun purchase. Panda dials are great...I almost bought a gen one of these at a recent Antiquorum auction.
  7. That's great...can you show the other aspects??? I'm assuming 2 sides to clamp in tight with the screw. Is it wood or brass?? Do you hold it freehand on the drill press or do you clamp it to the press table?? Thanks for showing this.
  8. PM Offshore...he might be able to help steer your closer to what you need.
  9. Welcome...there was another member from Montreal who just chimed in a few days ago...I`m from Toronto...welcome!! Let me know if I can help in your rep journey with a CDN context.
  10. Hey Andy...that does look good. Do you have a link to a post on your jig? I`m quite interested in it. I`ve seen a few versions of it...but I would like to see YOURS!!
  11. Beautiful pics...what are you doing to the colour??
  12. ...and POSSIBLY the dial spacer to accomodate the overlay or is that specific to the movement?
  13. Look for Lume work from The Zigmeister on the B&R's...AWESOME. Welcome and greetings from the province next door. Zig Lume 1 Zig Lume 2
  14. That's great...great project...great work Justin as well!!
  15. I like the silver hands to be honest!
  16. The Sidways Sweep...that adds a few years to fighting PMB. I don't know what I would do...as I don't think I could pull off the bald or buzz cut look...but when you have no choice...you have no choice...
  17. Great!! Thanks so much for posting this and being such a technically aware member of the community!!
