  1. You know what I like. Either way you go...you'll get a good watch. Let me put it this way, Andreww our resident Breitling expert thinks the bezel font positioning is more accurate and the easiest "tell" on the V2 vs. v3...but recognizes that the rider tab printing is crisper on the V3 vs. V2. When you're talking about this kind of macro-detail...you're getting a winner either way. I would get the one that has the best price!! I got mine for $185...works for me...but I don't think they have that price anymore...or you can go the V2 BS route from Hont...which gets you the proper DLC coating vs. the V3 PVD...then there's no contest because of the coating.
  2. I agree with you on that. I think this one is one of the nicer ones. None of them though, have me really excited.
  3. I get A7750 work done by The Zigmeister who's out in the maritimes. He's the most knowledgeable about the Asian 7750's. If you have ETA movements, there are a couple watchmakers in Toronto who will do the work. They do some reluming work as well though I have not see their work. One guy has access to the Rolex techs on St. Clair in Toronto as well who do work on gens that are brought in as well. If you have straight movement swap work there are a few in Toronto who will do that work as well. In Hamilton itself I have no idea. Drop me a PM if these sound usable.
  4. That's beyond my skills and understanding. Hopefully one of the watchmakers here will have some advice.
  5. Fantastic collection. We have some excellent franken projects and gens of these pieces floating around in pics on the forum. You might enjoy checking those out. Freddy333 also has an amazing evolving Rolex 6542 project that has me drooling...and Lanikai just put up updates to a 1655 franken project done by our master watchmaker The Zigmeister. The green Milgauss is a piece I'm eyeing. You like your PVD pams. There are some excellent modded PAM projects here as well. I do like the 26k. I'm in the debate about a 239 rep as I do want a Destro in the stables. We look forward to the pics. Check out Pugwash's photo guide linked in the Noob Guide, if you're new to taking watch pics.
  6. An interesting package...but I can't say I like the design all that much. The watches don't have a design that really inspires...plain cases, a dial that mimics the Omega DeVille Hour Visions but with a simple arabic font. The mechanics of the alarm and minute repeater are interesting...but overall, I'm not all that impressed for $7,000 - $15,000 for the minute repeater. The winder tower looks like a washer dryer set in miniature to me.
  7. Screw the golden rule...I'm only going to help if Admin makes sure Shundi and Ajoesmith are not allowed to change their Avatars. I offered my services to mentor 1thunder. I'm now signed up.
  8. I'm not sure about this specific problem...but in general my non-serviced 7750s are noisy. After servicing by The Zigmeister...they are all silent. So the solution for the noise is likely proper cleaning and oiling of the rotor. As to the ratchet sound...that I have no clue about. There are some noisy rotor threads linked in my Noob Guide. Perhaps some suggestions can be found there?
  9. What did you get yourself into? You got yourself into the best WATCH forum around with the most knowledgeable and friendliest folks around. Welcome aboard. There are lots of gen and rep enthusiasts here...so if you like watches...you'll have fun. I hate to burst your bubble...but there are almost no such things as 1:1 reps...so don't let scam sites tell you otherwise. The only ones that are true 1:1's, are time-consuming and expensive Franken projects you so many gen parts that the only thing that is not gen might be the engine under the hood, a caseback, or maybe hands...or possibly the case. Otherwise...we're looking at maybe 1:0.9 reps...close...very close...but good value. SO...if you can get over that all reps will have flaws...that if you want them to last as long as a gen, servicing may be inconvenient and expensive relative to the cost of replacing the whole thing...then you will have fun indeed. If you find the forum useful, fun, and a place that you want to participate in...consider upgrading your membership to Supporter to support the forum...and in the mean time...get a free raffle ticket by upgrading and replying in the Raffle thread, for a chance at the Omega PO. Read the Noob Guide linked in my Signature and you'll hit the ground running. In the spirit of RWG, let me offer my services to you as rep "mentor" if you have any questions.
  10. No sweat. We're here to help each other out. BTW...nice piece! If you find the forum has helped you...consider upgrading a supporter membership. You'll help keep the forum alive...support where you've gotten your info...AND get a free raffle ticket worth for the Omega PO Chrono...the ticket is worth almost 2 months of a Supporter subscription!!
  11. I know how much they cost...it just still seems a waste to stick on a $90 rep strap or whatever the rep one costs on a $20,000 watch. Call me weird. Anyways...it sounds like you have the 356-66/354 and not the 346-66-8/354. The 354 is the bracelet...so none of the elements should be transferable. The 314 is the croc strap with deployment so it doesn't have all the additional elements of the rubber deployment. The rep that is out I'm assuming you are referring to the MMD Chrono in RG. If you note the rep MMD Chrono strap attaches to the lughorns very differently than yours: Lani's MMD Chrono Rep Gen Pic of your model ...so you couldn't use those initial pieces connecting to the logo element from the lughorns. As well: Rep MMD Chrono Clasp I think this is your clasp isn't it?? You'll notice the clasps are very different so you couldn't recycle these either, as they mount differently. Your class should slide over a tang buckle compatible strap, while the MMD Chrono deployment attaches through holes in the cut rubber pieces. To save money and get a decent strap...I would suggest contacting one of the good strap makers (like Aaron aka HKTan) and getting one custom made. It won't be rubber if that's what you wanted. Good luck. I feel educated. Thanks.
  12. The back off...I got it covered. I try to reply to all inquiries I get and to welcome aboard the new comers who post intros. I'll help out any way I can. I usually have a pretty open door policy for inquiries.
  13. Don't forget to post in the raffle thread to get your free ticket!!
  14. The usual effort on these ones. The crowns never bugged me on these. Hunting the datewheel would probably the biggest problem. Thanks for the info.
  15. look up acetimer or ace timer on RWG and google. There were some posts of their products and people buying these.

  17. I love that 239. Is this still available in a good version?? I don't see too much info on this watch but notice the usual suspects still have it on their websites...and that rhack got his on a tip from you!
  18. Welcome aboard and congrats on a nice rep. Glad to hear of people signing up after others have spread the word. Read the Noob Guide linked in my signature to get you started on the forum and reps in general...as well as more technical links on maintaining the reps...and check out the raffle thread for details on how to have a chance to win an awesome Omega Planet Ocean Chrono. For the cost of your first month of upgrading to a forum Supporter, you get a free ticket worth almost TWICE the monthly supporter fee!!
  19. I think you're out of luck for a high end rep of the 3520.50.
  20. Welcome to RWG. AllergyDoc has been around the forum for awhile and knows the drill. Read the Noob Guide linked in my signature for an intro to the rep buying world. In there, is the link to the recommended dealers section...or you can find the dealers in the subsection from the main RWG page. If you do your research on the board, or any other rep board for that matters, you will find Joshua (aka Perfect Clones) is one of the main rep dealers around and is a very trustworthy dealer. You should still do your research and read dealer reviews, as you will learn that ALL dealers have their issues...so you have to figure out what you're willing to put up with and what you're not...as the best dealer FOR YOU depends on a whole lot more factors than just price. Read. Search. Learn. Share!! That's the RWG way.
