Sort of. They are rarer but the price is capped on many of them by the fact that the second hand itself isn't that expensive.

I suspect if you put out a WTB someone will hit you on it. if not for the amount of work I did on mine I would sell it to you. I am sure there are plenty of folks for who the watch hasn't been on the wrist for years.

It all starts with whether the crown is "spring loaded". You need the mechanism to get that satisfying soft click when you shut the lever on the cg. In general crowns have gotten a lot better.

His pictures are very strategic and it is state of the art - rounded pushers better date placement but no straight on of the crown and pushers and the hand tubes are always the instant give always. if anyone disagrees please chime in, Although the pictures obfuscate it it is possible the deployant is genuine in which case it is worth about what it sold for.

I love the oldie frankens as well. Half the fun is building them. Sold or gave away most of them but still have that core bunch. Every time they are strapped to the wrist what I see is not the watch honestly but rather the "story" behind it.

7750 is not a module based chrono. generally folks remove the sub-dial pinions. Any competent watchsmith can do this easily.

You are in no-mans land in that price range. EIther buy a better existing rep for a lot less and be satisfied with its flaws, recognize that a major upgrade is $4k plus (if there is a decent case available anymore, or give in and buy the gen.

IMHO, assume nothing. Some watches may be in stock, a factory may be open long enough to snap a QC pic or ship a piece or ultimately things go back to normal. The most important thing is ro communicate with your trusted dealer and have a real understanding what timing or availability really is. And yes, a reasonable amount of patience is required in any case. we are dealing with contraband.

If that is one of the models with a basket weave dial also bear in mind that the movement top-plate is nicely finished in Cotes de Geneve on the gen.

That is the current word I heard as well. The Noob factory is the latest one under siege. That has been the case for more than a week now. I am not sure they are completely closed down (maybe doing evening shifts or something like that) but their production is at least temporarily severely curtailed if not shut down. So what that means for members is that they have to be ever more vigilant about checking dealers' stocks before ordering.

But unlike your kids the watches will come back in pristine condition. Not even any mosquito bites.

Sounds like your rotor (okay, oscillating weight) has disconnected or the rotor bearing is all gummed up. It is a relatively easy fix for a watchsmith. Watches have to come to me that way before.
