  1. I am not convinced that the gen movement will necessarily fit in a rep case. You would certainly require a new movement ring and it is possible you would need to redrill the crown hole. And no there is no ETA equivalent with the power reserve and date in the same place and even close to the same dimensions.

  2. Ever get the sense we are our own worst enemy? With all the new watch models coming out which we pile into it makes you wonder why they will ever go back and redo an older issue. And with the profitability as bad as it is for the dealers why do they have incentive to stock it?

  3. Sorry to hear this. You might ask another dealer - Connie, Angus or Toro. The Noob factory stuff is definitely suffering from lack of inventory. I don't know whether it is a factory or dealer issue. The Noob factory has not been the same since the raids a month or two ago. Also some dealer's try and minimize product from the Noob factory as they charge the dealers so much there is little room for profit and they are notoriously difficult on defective watches. Right now the factories have all the juice. I am still trying to figure out whether Noob is going to bother with future runs of existing watches.

  4. It's obvious that compete top plate, including date change components was taken from A7753, otherwise there would be no way to get A7753 DW into ETA 7753. Due to small differences in construction I would guess that few gears also had to be taken from A7753.So this is more like "Swasian" 7753, than ETA :)

Not really worth it in my opinion, but to each his own. Congrats to proud owner, really beautiful watch !

    regards

I had heard the 7753 gen movement was a direct swap and that they had further manipulated the latest A7750 so you had good enough date placement to use the rep dial with a gen movement. Being able to use the same datewheel is surprising.

  5. On the Diver, I suspect the driver is the 2824-2 being increasingly difficult to get in volume and ETA is vigilant on what goes into China. The factories can't get them for less than we do and they are usually $150+. On the clone LWO 283 movement there are not enough current hot watches that use that configuration and the funniest part is the factories would have to re-engineer the whole rep back to true gen specs (case height and depth, offset-pushers, etc.) so it would be a complete redo.

  6. +1. All things being equal I used to go with Swiss until I concluded it was random luck whether your movement was assembled with care and that far outweighed which movement you pick. The service for these 3 hands are relatively inexpensive in any case and often when it does come time to service, if I am still in love with the rep, I will often upgrade to ETA.

  7. While this is a phenomenal step forward, there seem to be a lot of cosmetic differences. Are these due to the movements inside being completely different, or was this just oversight? And the follow up / real question: can this be closer to gen, or is the best that can be done without custom movements?

It is a totally different movement. The gen has in-house multi-barrel movement. This is just jury rigging an existing movement and cutting better looking aesthetic plates. You will never end up with the jewels in the right place, etc.

  8. My guess (and it is a guess) is that if the reset function does engage but it won't reset to zero that the hands are slipping on the pinions. A common solution is to actually drop a touch (and I mean touch) on the hands when putting back on. If you haven't done or before have someone who has do it. That was the standard fix when fitting hands into the A7750's that wouldn't hold their position. Their is a surprising amount of torque for those little buggers. :)

  9. My observation was always that Paypal is really better organized to protect the buyer rather than the seller and the seller is generally presumed guilty while it is the opposite for buyers. As a buyer I like Paypal with a better nom-paypal credit card linked - you have two levels of protection. As a seller I simply restrict my transactions to people I know - or at least know where they and their families live. :)

  10. A Vietnamese case is a case made in Vietnam. :) Seriously, I thought those cases have not been made in quite a while. As long as we are on the topic what do you guys think of the older Yuki cases (for gen movement)?

  11. Daniel- Welcome to the forum. A number of folks here (myself included) have built franken PO's. Believe it or not depending on what you are building and how many gen parts you want to put on it, you may be better off saving up for a second hand gen. But take a look around in the Omega section and feel free to ask questions.

  12. If they can't even get the basic dimensions right suffice it to say it is not a top notch rep and I would never pay more than $150. If you are determined to get a top notch AP rep go with the RO Offshore Chrono or better the V3 Diver. It is fine if you don't care about accuracy but then don't spend a lot of money. Or to put it more simply, I own gen, franken and rep AP's and the last rep I would buy is the Royal Oak chrono. I would look on your wrist and know instantly that it is a fake.
