By the way, I can't believe I am not the only knucklehead to own the Panerai "travel" case.

I am waiting on tracking number from Ken as well as the mystery man in Shanghai. Something has to show up.
By then we will all be buying the 7753 version.

Very nice pics. It is nice to see that you and Quarks have different serial numbers. Maybe you two should compare if you ever get together.

"I see dead people."
Definitely not gone. Reminiscent of the movie "Escape from New York."

But they did come in both polished and matte bezel.
Do people agree that the crown looks pretty damn vis-a-vis the gen?

Nice to see you here. On this computer I see the Q&A. You have the A's. I just wish I had the Q's.

The pics I posted on RWG I were with a Lello crown. Not these crowns.

More importantly, I did hear from Tommy about a week ago and he said he was doing better and hoped to be back soon. He was very much affected by his familial loss and we wish him nothing but the best.

I am interested in 8 - ETA (4-7753, 3-2893, 1-7750) assuming the pricing is what Palpatine had previously quoted. Please confirm that the ETA version is the right version for all autos. I do have one question though.
On the 2893 specifically under the previous post on RWG 1 the crown looked like it rested closer to the dial and that the diameter filled out more of the crown guard (but it may just be the pictures).

The only reason I ask is that in an earlier post it had been mentioned that you had to go to a different fabricator and I just want to make sure the picture above does not reflect a change in what was originally offered. Very exciting though.

Enjoy the read.

I agree. Mine is on the way. I am likely to polish it up and am certainly adding the new cyclops to dramatically improve magnification. The rings I will investigate when I receive.

Where else - Ebay Look both on Ebay generally and Ebay Germany. The other day I saw a couple on the German site. Don't remember where though.

The issues are the following:
a.) Rep is modeled after the A series which is the only one that came with no etchings on the bezel (it has raised markers only). On that version there are no metal rings around the hour markers
b.) Subsequent versions have bezel with both markers and etching. Some have rings and some don't
I do believe the A did come without bezel etching in both polished and unpolished though.
What I do appreciate about this particular version is that the hands and how they join on the center pinion is very close to spot on and that (IMHO) is the give away on all these subs. Plenty of watches require repairs and new dials. None get a replacement cheapy movement with capped hands.
If you want to get psychotic about it:
Polish up whole watch, investigate removing rings from hour markers (I believe they are glued on), relume with creamy lume to emulate tritium, add new cyclops and hope someone makes a datewheel. Between the 7750 - 48, 49, 24, etc, there may be enough demand to warrant someone doing this. Now you are looking pretty good.
Then again you have too much money into it and it costs almost twice as much as the original lower cost version.

Great minds... I shipped my Chrono Avenger to Ziggy along with a new Swiss 7750 and OEM dial (paid $10). Don't think I would pay up for that rotor though. That rotor has embossed logo. What is that?

What makes you think Paul will actually get it. He may but he has posted pictures of things he never got before. Take the fourth edition 1950 (i.e. the right one).

I don't know the answer, but I would wait for the new crown coming from Palpatine and PAM. It is more accurate and likely to be priced about the same.
-
How did you get close enought to get those photos?
-
Is the 16610 case the same size as the vintage subs? Maybe a dumb question but I have never owned a contemporary sub.
-
The markers fall off. They are simply glued on. I was wondering if the the more expensive PAM 24 with Asian 7750 now being offered by dealers has the same issue.
-
As long as we are on MBW I was curious on the 16610 and YM. I own a pair of vintages and they are fantastic. I've added all kinds of ben parts and they do become better and better. Is the MBW 16610 Sub head and shoulders above other versions? Does it look as close to the gens? Finally, does it take original parts?
thanks in advance.

I got you guys beat - two of my kids have palindromic names. By the way, if you are going to go this route go all the way. Igpae atinlae siae ehtae nlyoae aywae otae ogae. One other thought - if you really like doing things backward you should learn hebrew.

Well now I know how you guys afford this expensive hobby. Not everyone has a digital scale "lying around". They look great and the weight doesn't surprise me. With that size who needs brass knuckles.
