  1. I have seen the gen a number of times and simply put the FC should look like marble - not wood grain. I went for the other one from Trusty/Josh but there are still unanswered questions on that as I haven't seen a dial or other parts pics. Hope springs eternal. Why do I have this awful feeling we are going to have to combine the best parts of 2 watches. Sound familiar. :)

  2. If you are going with a historic handwind that is a good choice with IMHO the better case construction of Noob (vs H factory) and solid caseback. If this is your first PAM and you actually want a date and not have to wind every other day you might consider the Noob 29M. That is my favorite automatic super rep.

  3. Over the years I have had really nice interactions and disasters with Noobs so I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt and focus on the content of their posts. I only factor in post count when it relates to a potential trade or sale - not that I refuse to do business with nephytes but I do proceed more cautiously. Too many people who quickly come on the forums are looking for the instant gratification and don't understand the limitations and difficulties with reps and how things can go wrong or they are not perfect. They think they are buying gens and expect gen-like perfection and even service. They also don't know the rules of the road. Having said that I have seen many quality people come (and go) who do have something to add - whether simply friendship or knowledge. I also expect the vast majority of noobs to disappear for any number of reasons - just looking for the best rep of something, has other things to do, just doesn't take to the whole hobby, etc.

  4. Doesn't the lugs appear to have some cracks to them?

Yes. For that reason QC will be critical. The original gen had the same issue. Many cases were rejected at the time. But it does look like the same process and from what I can see it is really close. The case has been properly reshaped as per gen. The only difference I could readily see of the parts pictured was the usual finer teeth on the ratchet mechanism. Now what isn't in the listing that I looked at was final pictures of the dial and inner tachy. I am still all-in though. No guts, no glory. :)

  5. Always loved the Deco bezel 3646 and yours looks good. Out of curiousity where did the bezel and mid-case come from? I bought one from DSN years ago but a crappy Molijna is keeping it off my wrist. Yeah, I had to have that "Rolex" engraving on the movement - should have stuck with the Cortebert. :)
