omfg...
this one was surly made by a super-gay repper...
-
mind if i ask where you scored that from ?
I found it on ebay about 4 years ago, I allways wanted to have this watch and searched a long time for it.
-
after a S/EL-Chrono, a Link Chrono and a Ti5 Chrono here is my final TAG:
Kirium Chronometer Chronograph
-
you're right. I'm not a fan of this watch, but compared with the first pics it looks now much better. I don't think you'll ever change back
-
took some parts I had around and assembled this custom Ti 4-liner base Pam:

6152-1 MM with a selfmade strap for the 2nd half of this week
-
yes - that's defenitly one of my favorite watches
love those base dials.
-
think I can sell all my other watches, my 6152-1 gets all the wristtime
-
F**k!! this means that the price for reps in EU is rising again!!
-
as this model is (one of?) the cheapest model I can understand the choice because they sure make most money with the best-seller.
-
I'd like to say it this way:
to me it looks like a gen dial with fake markers.
the surface has the matte textured surface like the gen but the numbers are glossy so I don't think this matte finish wasn't applied later (I've never seen a rep dial with that matte finish - except the one from Stephane, who applied this look in a mod).
the "SCHAFFHAUSEN"-area looks quite good, although there are more versions of rep-dials. as you can see in the following pictures the dial in my watch has an awful printing and the seperated dial looks really good. also the depth of the subdials looks good on the 2nd dial. (both dials are rep)
A difference is the back of the dial. my rep dial has little holes at the place where the lume-markers are fixed. your dial doesn't have this holes - but there could be different versions of rep-dials, who knows??
I wouldn't take it because of the crappy markers, they really look fake, the condition of the dial over all is quite bad. No words to the hands, I think no one can tell the difference.
don't
take
it
!!

the only thing that looks good to me is the surface. it's not this glossy than the most rep-dials. but the markers look crappy and the triangle at 12 looks too small. the hour-hand and the dial-edges are in an awful condition. I wouldn't go for it.
-
I still have not paid the guy and am now disputing with him that it is fake. Soo he does'nt file a dispute against me for not paying.
maybe you can post some better pics to be really sure that this dial isn't the real thing.

This pic came directly from IWC's website. Are you saying they are posting bad pics of their own watches?
I know this and this topic has been already discussed on the boards. fact is that the gen watch does not have that slim numbers.
here are examples of the gen watch:
-
My biggest concern is, how to change the chrono pins (which hold the chrono hands silver) as 99% of the 3717 GENS I have seen have Silver chrono hands.
Thank You
100% of the gen 3717 have silver chrono-pins. It's hard to tell on this pic but the looks fake. A closer shot and from different angels would help to tell exactly.
sorry for the bad news, what did you pay for the set?
I'm thinking it's a fake too .... hopefully I'm wrong though. Here's a picture of the gen ... from the IWC site.
It also looks to me like perhaps the hour numbers are too thick also, but it could just be the angle of the picture.
please be careful with the thickness of the hour-numbers. only on this pic the 3717-01 has slim numbers, the gen watch has more bold numbers. the top gun has more slim ones.

Any sort of natural bees wax would work, rub it in and use another bit of leather to burninsh, it takes a while but it make the edges look a bit more finished with out using edgecote.
thanks a lot for the hint, I'll give it a try!
-
Looks good, do you plan on doing any thing with the edges?
I used to wax and then burnish them.
I'm thinking of leaving it raw cut.
anyway, which kind of wax did you use? I can't find anything to burnish the edges.

Bit of a vintage too also on a self made strap, i think this was my third strap too.
I retired from making straps after 50.
I'm thinking of retiring of making straps right now
