  1. I just got Homer's Tourby rose gold with white dial delivered to the office today (not a bad way to make Monday more bearable) and the watch is great. You've all seen his pics and they're better than anything I could whip up real quick. The gold plating is fantastic and the overall finish of the watch is qute nicely done. It really does look like something that should cost well into the thousands of dollars, not a few hundred.

  2. I'd be very interested in this. Especially for something like a Breguet, Patek or Vacheron Constantin. Heck, I'd even be interested in replacing the gold plated case on Homer's tourbillion with a solid gold one if it could be done.

  3. You know, I really hate gold. Don't own a single gold thing in my house. Not even a belt. But I have to admit that I really dig that RG/black combination.

And I think this watch would sell pretty well. I mean, come on, we get a damn near 1:1 Graham Googly Eyed Monster Thing, but we don't even have a crappy Breguet on the books? And who looked at that DeWitt and said-- yeah, THAT's what the rep community is crying out for right now! Unlike a lot of other Breguets, I think this watch could be worn as a dress or as a sport watch (with the rubber band) equally well. I just wish someone had plans to at least consider repping this.

LOL. I couldn't agree more. They'll rep complete monstrosities, but when it comes to gorgeous watches like this and the UN Maxi Marine Diver we get nothing.

  4. I for one like it without the date mag. Not having one gives it a much cleaner, streamlined look. The hands could be changed, but I can say I think there would be a market for this watch in that price range....maybe not to watch geeks like us, but for somebody who wants a nice watch without dropping a couple of grand with a different look.

  5. I am a little bit sick of all chronos that have been lately released... <_<

like somebody said...i wish new movements to be released...a nice big date would be welcome as Breguet Marine big date...or something else...the ALS....or....just something different to bring some fresh air in the rep world...

I'll second that emotion. The Breguet Marine is one of my grail watches....hopefully somebody will take a stab it and get some variety going. Can't take any more chrono's.

  6. Don't be a fool and get a watch like this from Josh/Andrew but choose a dealer who will quality control it for you. Because at these prices, and with a watch this delicate, you want it to be right the first time around.

At this point, I'm leaning toward just buying the Homer Tourby, and at some point possibly swapping the hands, since that's the only part of the watch that I'm not really thrilled with. But if I look at other tourbillion's which dealers would you recommend buying from that will quality control it for me? I agree with your point about being careful. I definately want to be careful with this purchase, and future tourbillion purchases.

  7. I've recently been bitten by the tourbillion bug and since I'm a big fan of Breguet, and given their history with tourbillions, I'm really liking the Breguet Flying Tourbillion. Two problems: 1) I've read that these typically have the first generation of the Chinese tourbillion movements (which I read somewhere were somewhat less than reliable), and 2) they've been phased out. I know homer sells a tourbillion with a very nice movement, only I'm not sold on the dial (I like the cleanness of the guilloche pattern on the Breguet).

If I can somehow source a Breguet tourby, and the movement fails would it possible to do a movement swap using one of Homer's movements, or any other known new generation, reliable Chinese tourby movement, or are they going to be different sizes and therefore not transferrable?

Ideally I'd like to get the Breguet rep with the upgraded movement, is this doable?

    Thanks.

  8. "3mm size difference is quite a flaw for a watch costing nearly $400. I think i will have to pass. "

I'd agree. A 20% increase in size should be easily noticeable. That flaw alone kills any hope that this will ever be classed as a super rep. And $400 for a watch with that obvious a flaw seems a bit steep to me.

  9. I was really looking forward to this watch and had it high on my list, but at 18mm I think the case is too thick for me. I don't like big chunky watches and this one just doesn't seem as if its going to have the balance of the original with the extra 3mm of height. Might have to pass on this one sadly, as I love the look of the gen.

  10. Ahh it's just so frustrating not being able to have such an "ultimate" version of a more reasonably-sized watch!

I'm with you on this one. I've been dying to get a 42mm PO with black dial and orange numbers, but like you I'm a bracelet fan, so the endlink/bracelet issue has been keeping me on the sidelines. For the life of me I can't figure out why the dealers haven't come out with an ultimate version in the 42mm size. I hate big watches, so there's no chance of me getting the UPO either.

  11. Nothing is quite like the gen, but as By-Tor says, you can't just live with one or two watches. If I owned gen's of all the watches I really wanted I'd have no money left over for anything else. So, what's a member to do:

    1) Buy the gens of the watches that are truly special to you...the one's you are really drawn to. Then fill out the rest of your collection of reps. Both will be special, but for different reasons.

    2) Sell me your 42mm PO!!!!
