  1. I watched the pilot last year and was very disappointed. Maybe they've made some good changes in the actual series, but the pilot looked like a typical low budget, poorly written network show.

I wish they had done something like the new Battlestar Galactica series (i.e. written for adults). The pilot felt more in the mould of the Knight Rider remake (i.e. written for kids/teenagers).

BTW, I'm a fan of the first two films, but thought T3 was very poor.

  2. how long before they break, every mobile i have had borke as soon as the garantee was up, i hate to think of how long or short that would last,

If it breaks, the nanobots will fix it. Just like they do on the new Knight Rider car.

  3. My wife and I pay off our cards every month, but get within a breath of the due date and they will do their utmost to sock you with finance charges. I despise their business practices.

Are you really suggesting that they do their utmost to sock you with finance charges before the due date has occurred? That would indeed be a despicable business practice.

  4. came to Hawaii years ago and worked out one day at World gym .... he is actually like 5 ft. 3 or 4 inches ... amazing what camera angles will do

You must really be tall because he is 5'9.

And, believe me, he is not 5'9" tall... Wide maybe, but not tall... I have been hitting golf balls at Wentworth by his side and he is relatively short. Nice guy, though.

He may have a thick arm but he is only 5 foot 4 inches.

LOL at the above posts.

So according to the above posts, in this picture either he's wearing 6-8 inch lifts or they are all around 5'4. Or perhaps confused69u is closest to the truth (which would mean Sly's wearing 2-3 inch lifts).

  5. It's NOT based on the new IWC 3799 "Edition Top Gun" double-chronograph.

it's based on new IWC Ceramic Doppelchronograph, ref. 3786-01. Limited edition of 1,000 pieces. But they made the caseback wrong:

I think you're probably right, and the rep manufacturers have done this type of thing before (for example, some AP reps have a City of Sails case back, even though the rep isn't a CofS model).

Still a great review though. :)

  6. AP ROO uses a JL with a DD module, I have an ETA 21j and the same DD module used by AP (even if now, they do it themselves...)

AP is now starting to use its in-house base movement (instead of the JLC), but it still uses the DD module on top. Therefore the subdial arrangement and placing on the gens is still the same.

  7. I'd have to agree with you there. What did you think of Oxygene 7-13?
Chronologie was more than half-decent and definitely captured the contemporary 'techno' style of the day, but might not have appealed to die-hard fans.

Chronologie and Oxygene 7-13 had some good stuff, and I can see why people like those albums a lot. For me they were perhaps too contemporary (trance/techno) and don't have the longevity and timelessness that his earlier albums have. I would say it was around the time that Michel Geiss (who was arguably the single biggest factor in Jarre's success in the 1970s and 80s) stopped collaborating with Jarre in around 1997 that the wheels well and truly fell off the Jarre-wagon.

I agree his later stuff was poo, but it might have had something to do with the fact he'd fallen out with Polydor/Disques Dreyfus and was just seeing out the remainder of his contract with them.

His later years have seen Jarre disrespect his fans on many levels. For example, releasing deliberately under-par stuff like Sessions 2000, just so he could finish a contract he didn't like, is a slap in the face to all those fans who unwittingly bought that album (and who line Jarre's pockets). The Teo & Tea album marks a new low-point in his career, with him "creating" the album almost entirely using preset patches from the Roland MC808 (e.g.

) and without even having the decency to credit the creators of those patches (of which he wasn't one of them). A teenager could have put that album together in a weekend. (A far cry from the superb Zoolook, where he created entirely new sounds). Also his petty and single-minded behaviour in not properly crediting the extensive contribution of Michel Geiss has caused Jarre to be lowered in the estimation of many people in the music industry. And whilst I'm at it (:p), I don't like the fact that many of his concerts feature a ridiculously extensive amount of playback and he makes little attempt to even pretend he's playing the right notes most of the time. The list of disrespect goes on and on, and it's a real shame because his early stuff was awesome (in fact I've been listening to Rendez-Vous lately...).
  8. As I already mentioned over on RWI, the text about the bezel on a dive watch being used to calculate remaining air time is wrong and should be changed. The only thing a dive bezel is useful for when diving is to track the duration of the dive (or another specific event that requires timing, such as a safety stop).

That's why both pro and amateur divers rely entirely on diving computers to have a constant and accurate information about the remaining air and time.

That's not true as regards remaining air. The majority of pro and amateur divers still rely on submersible pressure guages to relay information about remaining air.

  9. I would like it a lot more of the crown and chrono depressors were on the right side... I can already imagine the inconvenience of setting the time. Not to mention, it looks like a mirrored reflection of itself. There are ways to make the "traditional" chrono look more unique, but flipping everything to the opposite end is just a lazy way to (try to) do it. Moreover, I find the rubber strap to be quite a misunderstanding considering the price range is so steep. A piece of rubber? On a luxury timepiece? In my opinion this watch is really nothing special.

You raise some interesting points, certainly worth responding to. :)

I don't think the left sided crown and pushers has anything to do with making the watch look unique. The EZM series are primarily designed for German elite law enforcement units. By having the crown/pushers on the left, they do not interfere with normal wrist action during operations, and there's less chance of anything snagging on them. Also, I think most people take their watches off when they set the time, so I don't think the inconvenience issue is a strong point.

As for the rubber strap, rubber has been successfully used by higher end brands such as Audemars Piguet, so it's not as though the market is going to be up in arms about Sinn's decision to use it as well. Even so, the watch will probably be available with leather strap or SS bracelet at some stage.
