  1. yes, good advice. However, be careful of scratching the insert, for example use gloves...
  2. there is no fine regulator... although this can be fixed: regards, Francisco
  3. Check the balance, specially the mainspring...
  4. The dealer Fine_dd from RWI had to send me a crystal to be installed to an AP. So I asked him to send me another one to carry on a scratch resistant test. The results are shown in this thread. This was my idea and I did not receive any “gift” from Fine_dd. This is the crystal I received, for a Timewalker. As picture shows, it is broken (top right) What I am going to do is to repeat a test I published two years ago in a Spanish forum (fororelojero.com) where I compared Chieftang and Taupada (Spanish dealer) ARs. For that comparison a developed a procedure for measuting AR scrtach resistance. That procedure is employed in this thread. There are two tests. The first one consists of using the feet of a 7750 dial to try scratching the AR treatment. To make a fair comparison, I employed a 100 grams weight on the dial, to produce the same pressure on the glass. Folow a picture of one of the feet. A torture test... The second test consists of employing one Jaxa tool to try scratching the dial. Again. 100 grams weigh is on the Jaxa tool, to apply always the same pressure on different crystals. APPLICATION TO FINE_DD AR TREATMENT. FIRST TEST. Results: It is difficult to show the micro scratches that were produced by the feet dial. Some pictures follow: A picture taken using a watchmaker’s loupe: SECOND TEST: Results: After the two tests there are many micro scratches, but they are difficult to spot. Some pictures placing the crystal on the dial. As comparison, follows a picture I took when the test was applied to Chieftang´s AR treatment, two years ago: In my opinion, Fine_dd AR treatment is quite resistant to scratching. Best wishes, Francisco
  5. Many times I received PMs asking about the chance of adding antireflective treatment (AR) to AP seconds at 12 watches. I do not normally recommended it, as normally the gen has no AR. However, it seems there is a lot of interest. As I am receiving many APs, normally for movement improvement, I have the opportunity of making in this thread: 1.- A comparison of an AP without AR and an AP with AR from 2geek (twogeek). 2.- A comparison of ARs from 2geek and Fine_dd 1.- COMPARISON AP WHITOUT AR AND WITH AR FROM 2GEEK. THE AP WITH AR FROM 2GEEK IS ALWAYS ON THE LEFT. As seen in previous picture, when the glass does not receive directly light the difference is quite small. I think that the flat glass of APs helps to this small difference. A similar case, small difference: Now follow pictures when the glass shows reflections: Few days after taking these pictures I was working on an AP with AR from Fine_dd, So I decided to make a comparison 2geek / Fine_dd. Unfortunately both APs are not from the same model, but at least both have dark dial. Here follows the AP with Fine_dd AR. As photo shows, the AR from Fine_dd returns a neutral or a bit yellow color reflection. The comparison: In my opinion, both treatments have the same antireflective quality, and the difference is the color of the reflections. Best wishes, Francisco
  6. No. I did not have the chance. Anyway, after all the work has been published, I think there is nothing more to say.
  7. well, this is an old post... but for that reason is good to know that that watch is still runing correctly. And a friend of mine tried too and had no problems. But it is true that the movement has to be push two wheels at the same time... so it needs more power to do it.. regards, Francisco
  8. I bought a couple of ETA 7750 movement for myself. I never used them and finally I sold them. So now you know what I think about a serviced Asian
  9. I am terribly busy... however, i will make the review asap...it seems some people is waiting for this review...
  10. Excellent review... to be honest.. I miss that watch.. I think I am going to modify one for me... About improving more the movement... very difficult... perhaps we could erase the engraving on the balance... but not a big improvement. The most important point is that now looks quite gen, previous movement was really ugly...
  11. here you have an explanation of why your watch has no smooth motion: here a couple of videos showing how the mtion improves after improving the movement: regards, Francisco
  12. what is happening is similar to some of the problems of AP seconds@12. There is a gear rotating under another one, instead of engaging. regards, Francisco
  13. This thread shows a comparison of Breitling Avenger rep and gen dials and how the movement has been improved. Gen dial is always on the right. Subdials font too large and bold. Triangle at 12 too small. Numbers are mate, not glossy or chromed as the gen. B of Breitling is different. Central hole is different. However hands hide this flaw.
  14. Thanks friend for sharing these very well done pictures. Enjoy the watches! Regards, Francisco
  15. i guess the date window position will be very noticeable...
  16. This is an example of modding a PAM regatta. Central and minute chrono hands have been painted with correct blue. Rep has a very dark blue (very noticeable): Following picture shows the match between the blue color of hand and dial: Some lume pictures: How painting the correct blue in PAMs is explained in this tuto: Regards, Francisco
