  1. Dear members and dealers,

As has been mentioned on the board several times already, we in admin have the feeling that it might be time for a new standardised offers policy. We believe that this should be created by the members, in conjunction with input from our dealers. This new policy is intended to be voluntary for all dealers but those who decide to participate could be specially identified as an 'Upgraded' dealer or similar in order that members can readily see who has signed up for the policy.

The idea is that we create some standard terms and descriptions as well as some grading of quality of standards which an offer has to contain. As we are only moderating this forum we would like to ask you all to work something out with us together. The input of all dealers is especially welcome! We are aware that some dealer descriptions already go to great lengths to describe products, however others can be vague and in some cases there is misleading information as has been discovered recently.

To get us started in the right direction the first idea is to create 6 different categories (those considered to be the most important, in order for a prospective buyer to properly assess the value of the offered watch) and these would be:

    1. Movement

    2. Crystal

    3. Lume

    4. Case (is it compatible with genuine parts?)

    5. Functions

    6. Bracelet/strap

Aside from the terms of the offer and the general description of the watch, we feel that it's important that the standards of the core categories above must be contained in the offer.

As said all input is welcome in an effort to take the board a step forward and to avoid a reoccurence of the recent issue on the 2892 movement!

To complete the new voluntary offer rules we also think that the dealers who are willing to accept the rules onboard should be encouraged to deliver the same minimum criteria on their own webshops.

We recognize that as there are a lot of items on the webshops, the dealers who sign up for the policy would require a reasonable time to update this information.

As said this is an idea intended to make selling and buying for both parties easier. The dealers would have fewer complaints and the buyers would hopefully know exactly what they'll get for their money. As this will benefit both parties (dealer and member) we expect that the members and dealers could work hand in hand on this.

Your admin team are here to look after this site, we don't see our role to be one of policing dealers' advertising or statements. It will be in the best interests of the membership to establish an acceptable code, to both the members and dealer:, after all, the dealers are members here as well!

Please contribute any thoughts and/or ideas in this thread.

Great step towards the right direction. Count us in. We will be the first ones to sign it.

  2. I am very much encouraged by ur friends here. We will do the work, it is the chinese new year here, we will most likelyto start after the holiday is over. It could be a little slow, coz the original maker of these vintage rep has gone out of business, so we may have to start fresh. I will keep u guys posted. Thx a lot. Happy Chinese New Year!

  3. I have one of these from silix with asian movement. Very nice, except no holes in the case. Hopefully, he will fix that. Otherwise, it's great.

Yes, this error will be corrected. We will start with asian 17J automatic on these vintage reps, and if possible, work all the way up. Honestly, my ultimate goal is to make a really good 1:1 Sub. :-) We need to gain confidence in these factories.

  4. Hey guys sorry to come on this discussion so late. I have to say I am very much encouraged by it. Although 51 is not a big number, it tells there is solid demand for this watch. We have also heard customers outside this forum asking for these watches. We will start to work on the rerun of this ype watches. We will start with the low end asian 17 automatic first, and if possible to work it up. The process will take sometime, but we will keep u guys posted. Thx. Happy Chinese New Year.

  5. Ouch . . . what can I say.

OK, as far as the "synthetic sapphire" [censored] goes, I shall stand down and go sit in the back of the room. I really thought he had knocked that crap off.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

    Bill

This term "synthetic sapphire" is no doubt misleading. It is either sapphire, mineral glass, or plexi, I do not know there is another kind of material. And if there is, say it.

  6. Actually, I think it is easy for us dealers to do it right. Just be honest, tell what u know for sure, share doubts with the buyers. And if later we are proved wrong (like conned into the mistake by the favtories), make an real appology and fix the mistake quick. I believe ppl here will understand, and still have the confidence to trade with us. Do not use those misleading and deceptive terms. I am especially disgusted that some dealers ganged up to lie together. It is already hard to navigate around in this world of replicates and trade over internet, why make it even harder? I am sure all dealers have already got the message from this discussion, even if they stay silent. This is the power of this open forum. As long as the principle is forced here by the group, the kind of behaviour will be under check.

  7. Just got chance to read through the discussion. I totally agree with Pugy. I know the rep world is a dirty world, we are dealing with illegal goods, but why could not be honest with each other? Seasoned members go find infomation on the misleading terms/white lies, but how about the new comers? Do new ppl have to pay their lesson before they could get what they are entitled? Now they are new movements out all the time, do mthe first buyers have to be cheated before the public realize what is going on. I love to make money, from the watches I sell to my buyers, but I absolutely hate the felling when my customer call me lier when he felt cheated. My answer to Pugy's call is we run our store as clean as possilbe, and will use this forum more often to share the news and clear doubts. Let the truth be heard.
