  1. They are trying to keep up with all the other bling, bling watches that all the celebs are wearing. I dont like any of them.

I was just about to mention that as well. Yes, Rolex has built itself on the reputaion of classic and CLASSY timepieces but ..... the dollar reigns supreme. If you dont believe me, as yourself. Do you think that these new watches WONT sell.

  2. I started this thread in February back on the old RWG....

As you can tell its still most certainly unresolved, no watch and no refund.

I have tried contacting him numerous times....and i mean many many times. This guy is a scammer, he seemd so nice at first and then did the off with my £180...

It make sme sad that people do this. Im so glad i found this place.

I know others have had bad experiences with this guy!

for anyone who might get caught his email is casfer10@hotmail.com (beware) also goes under one @latinmail.com and numerous others!

Where and how did you find him ???

    You only live twice (1967):

    No watch visible.

    Casino Royale (1967)

Many of the cast wear various Rolexes. There is an extreme close-up of a Submariner held by Ursula Andress, which doubles as a two-way T.V. monitor and radio. When Peter Sellers visits Q Branch, his watch is described by Q's assistant (Fordice) as, "1965 Rolex Oyster Perpetual, date indicator and log table around the outer band". This watch is replaced with the same model but with the two-way monitor and radio features. A close-up of this watch reveals it's a Rolex GMT.

On her Majesty's secret service (1969):

George Lazenby as James Bond is wearing a Rolex Submariner on an Oysterbracelet. He takes off his Submariner, places it on top of a photo-copier and then peruses a Playboy magazine. A Rolex chronograph with a silvered dial and a stainless steel Oyster bracelet is also worn by Lazenby. It is seen twice when Bond times the cable car.

"That's a particularly handsome watch you're wearing Mr. Bond!"

On 17 September 1998, Christie's conducted an auction of James Bond memorabilia. Lot No. 130 was the actual Rolex Submariner used in "Live And Let Die". Rolex Reference 5513 and case No. 2912634. Its movement had been removed for customisation and the indices on the black dial had been pierced.

Goldeneye had the first appearance of the Seamaster in a Bond film. In it, 007 wears the quartz model 2541.80. Former fellow agent 006 wears the same watch, but on a custom strap. Special Q-Branch features include a laser beam (comes out of the bezel marker) and a remote explosive detonator. Ironically, there is an error in the appearance of this watch in Goldeneye. You first see 2541.80 in the pre-credits sequence which occurs in 1987, seven years before the events in the rest of the movie. Yet this style Seamaster Professional was not introduced until 1993.

    Tommorow never dies (1997):

    Omega Seamaster Professional

Here comes a interesting shot, Bonds watch collection (Rolex, Cartier ...)

    post-499-1143289703_thumb.jpg

In Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), 007 switched to the automatic chronometer version, model 2531.80. This version (supplied in the film by the Chinese Secret Service -- not Q-Branch - maybe it's a rep. That's probably why there are near perfect Seamasters out there!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim: ) also has a remote explosive detonator. But this time the watch also includes the explosive itself, in a small removable module behind the helium release valve. Interestingly, the opening credits for this film include an x-ray view of the interior of the watch!

    Omega Seamaster Professional

    post-499-1143289978_thumb.jpg post-499-1143290032_thumb.jpg

In The World Is Not Enough (1999), he again is wearing the model 2531.80. Two special versions are used in the film. One provides emergency lighting, the other has a piton that fires and deploys a strong wire for Bond to swing to safety.

    Die another day (2002):

    Omega Seamaster Professional

    post-499-1143300305_thumb.jpg post-499-1143300348_thumb.jpg

The model of choice continues with the 2531.80 in Die Another Day (2002), though with no new gadget features. The watch is used as a remote detonator (improved design though) and the standard crown mounted laser. Interestingly, a vintage OMEGA stopwatch has a momentary closeup in the film, too.

Here is an ad for Omega:

  4. Hello,

I have just bought a rather expensive gator strap for a gold plated rep watch, and I wondered how long the gold finish on the watch would last for such a strap, which brings me to the question...do you think there would be enough people prepared to pay say $500 for a better finish on their watches? Perhaps if there were manufactuors would respond favorably. Just a thought!

    so sad 2 bad

Eh. . it is what it is.

    NOTE TO THE NEWBIES:

Here is a prime example why this forum has so much to offer. By having "The Elders" educate us, we get a chance to learn about things that can help us be patient, and at the same time not get ripped off by scammers and scam websites. We are fortunate.

  6. Yeah 18ct in general terms is to soft for watches and bracelets, I know that it is used in some cases as well as 24ct but the wear is not good.

    Ken

All I have to say to PT is......[size=2]BRING IT PT !!!!!!!

Put em in check !!!!!! Way to bring the proof to the table !!!!!

  8. As I said in the guide to picking a dealer I did not write this but it was originated by Napoleon on the old RWG. It was a great post that I think we should have over here and of course if you feel something should be added by all means, add it! And I want to say thank you to Napoleon for writing this great post!

  9. Hello everyone,

Well I am just following the pied pipers and here I am. I want to start of by saying that it has been quite a wonderful experience finding the "other" site, learning about all that there to learn, getting GRILLED by the elders because of asking a faux paux question,( sometimes we have to learn with a little pain:) :D

But most of all, hats off to the elders that have been so kind to educate me and just as well to the ones that grilled me. All of the knowledge is priceless !!!!

I have fallen to the dark side and I have 10, count em, 10 watches on the way. Oh boy....I am in trouble.

Needing a little help. Please note that I am not in the impatient stage,(ok maybe a little) :Jumpy: , but I am wondering about the process and time frames of the following. (remeber elders, be gentle. . . newbie) :o

Package was sent from Malaysia on the 15th. Discovered this by going to http://www.pos.com.my http://www.pos.com.my then to Posdaftar as instructed. As I said it left Malaysia on the 15th and looks like it got to Los Angeles into customs on the 17th based on this site.

Well I was checking out other discussions on this site and foudn out that there is a way to do tracking on www.track-trace.com So i gave it a shot. Lo and behold, it told me that the origin was Malaysia yet it did not indicate dates or the transfer to Los Angeles into customs.

As for USPS, it looks like its not posted on their site either as of yet.

Question #1- Any relationship between the 2 tracking sites as far as accuracy ?? In other words, are international packages able to be tracked on different sites with the same tracking number??

Question #2- Anyone had any experience in time frames on delivery times from Malaysia ??

Wonderful to be here!!!!! I am looking forward to my new watches and continuing to learn about everything.

    Regards,

    CONVBMW

    PS

    Sorry if I rambled.
