  1. Fellow vintage types,

Having given myself a headache looking on the www, I ask our collective knowledge bank a question.

Namely how close should your bracelet date stamp be to your serial date, keeping in mind that depending on which chart you use can shift the production date a year.

Now you see why my head hurts :)

My case is 72, I m thinking a 3/4 71 bracelet would be ok but seek assurance and mental counselling.

End links make me cry also, just while we are sharing :)

  2. With someones wonderful help I ve ordered the WSO999 version, I ve gone for the full set incase the gen bezel wont fit. I wont have it for a couple of weeks but I ll let you know how it fits the gen case, its a 1972 case. So may differ if your friends is of an earlier vintage.

  3. Always wanted to go to a get together with fellow watch minded people, so had an idea combine a get together with a great sporting event and entertainment.

Liverpool Day at Aintree Racecourse brings city-inspired entertainment to the world's most famous racecourse. In addition to racing over the famous course in the John Smith's Foxhunter's Steeple Chase, the day also plays host to the feature race, the £150,000 Grade 1 Totesport Bowl.

Off-course, entertainment line-ups have in past years included a parade of the city's sporting legends, a skydive by the Red Devils, celebrity openers in Ricky Tomlinson and Ken Dodd, as well as performances by The Farm and The Bootleg Beatles not to mention a whole host of Liverpool unsigned talent performing on the Pavilion stage. What's more, Liverpool Day 2012 on Thursday 12th April promises to be bigger and better with Liverpool Band 'The Christians' announced in the line up and they will perform, some of their hits (Forgotten Town, Born Again, Ideal World, Hooverville and Words and Father) this year after racing.

Tickets are £23 from the racecourse itself.

If you needed to stay over basic hotels start from £25 in liverpool city centre, of course after the races the city centre would be the place to go for a meal or for further drinks/entertainment.

No need to pay upfront for race tickets as you can pay on entry, you can sort a room using laterooms or any other room search engine.

National express are also offering Return coach travel from certain locations and event admission packages from the following link:

Happy to meet up with anyone who fancies a day at the races :)

  4. The case set is all gen, the new crystal is aftermarket.

But the gen crystal made the retention ring even worse, the retention ring is either incorrect for this model or an aftermarket replacement.

Its cemented on now so I can wear the watch, just means the bezel cannot turn anymore.

Thanks for all the input guys.

  5. The crystal is from cousinsuk and is aftermarket, with all the old parts on it all fits together but the retention ring lifts off with the bezel using no force.

Without the tension spring the bezel lifts off freely no click at all.

I ve glued the ring down for now so I can enjoy the watch without fear of loosing anything :)

  6. I m having trouble with a gen bezel assembly, the insert is fine its the retaining ring and friction spring that I cant seem to make work.

When I manage to get the whole thing on and I can still lift the bezel off with just my finger nail. Should it be that easy ?

And the whole assembly comes off in one including the retaining ring. Should the retaining ring stay on even when the bezel comes off ?

Its a gen case so I m a bit lost, anyone clue me in to what I m doing wrong ?

I ve changed the crystal thinking the old one was warped due to age but the retaining ring still comes off, it is a little tighter however.

Is the dreaded friction spring causing all my problems ?

Sorry to ask so many questions, I bought a new friction spring but its a tiny bit too small to sit on the retaining ring. Unless its meant to be like that ?

    :) You can tell I m lost.

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks.
