  1. I know the 7753 does not have the flyback functionality but it would be the most $$$ efficient replacement for a chrono with running seconds at 9 and minute counter at 3

    :-)

So they finally fixed that D shaped CG, that's one of the main reasons I sold mine, it just kept bugging me.

By the way, a 7753 is completely wrong for this model. The gen has a Flyback complication movement.

  2. After cancelling my first order with Josh for the new version of the 212 over the incorrect mention of a sapphire crystal...

...I finally ordered one from him at the adjusted price of $239

Just received it today and I gotta say it is really nice!

I had bought the ultimate version last year and was disappointed with the lettering of the dial the noisy rotor and the D shaped CG...

Well it seems this one fits the bill. Nice CG shape, crisp white lettering on the dial, good Ar...a good base for an upgrade!

I will post pics later when I get my camera!

    ;-)

I really don't care for the slow beat movement at this time as it will be replaced with a 7753 at some time.

...and I'm on the list for a sapphire crystal!

  3. Thanks, I'll look into it!

But your right, a Jean Richard flyback movt would be killer!

    :-)

A standard configured ETA 7750 (6-9-12) will not work with a 212, you need to do some serious modding to get it to work. You're better off using an ETA 7753 (3-6-9) and disable the the hour counter or purchase a bi-compax 7753...I think Concepta actually had one.

Once the hour counter is disabled, the rep dial will fit perfectly. It's an expensive proposition to go to a 7753.

What would be a really cool project is to try and find a cheap JeanRichard with the flyback movement and make a 212 franken. I almost had my hands on a used one once for less than $800!

Considering that a gen 212 sells on the secondary market for around $8-$10K...a super-franken seems reasonable!!!

  4. So if v2 doesn't have sapphire, then they are getting an extra $80 for the low end 212...

because I can't see anything more to justify the price...

Andrew has changed his description of the new 212v2 for a synthetic sapphire...

    Josh still hasn't.

It seems that I will have to send the watch back when it gets here because I didn't get what I was supposed to...

I got clarification from toro and hont that the new 212/253 are indeed 21.6 movements and also not sapphire. Well toro only confirmed the 21.6 not the sapphire but hont confirmed both.

  6. from what I figure, this is a new version of the old 212 (with the lowbeat 7750) that was selling for $198 but with a sapphire crystal for an extra $80.

    :-)

btw: I'll be the guinea pig, I ordered one!

So who will be their guinea pig... I can't believe josh has a version that's $278 with mineral.. and for $10 more you receive a wath with sapphire.????? :g:

  7. Can this be done and what would need to be modified in order to do so?

There is no need for day date disks, how can the 30min counter be set?

Is this a very complicated task that would end-up being less reliable?

Need your inputs on this one...

p.s: I don't really care about the flyback function.
