could be from an innocent bump or just from structural stress... even heard about crystals exploding in airplanes! lol never had such issues with my 253 and 212 :-)

the later ultimate version of the 253 is really nice. however the crystal is mineral and has a tendency to break, mainly due to the curvature otherwise the clarity is excellent... there used to be a post about 1:1 212/253 sapphire for sale a few months ago.

Has anyone ever seen the back of his straps? This would be enlightening... All I can say, if it is to be constructive, is that the level of craftsmanship is very "basic" Not my cup of tea!

haven't found someone with a diamond tester yet, but will gladly let you know when I do... :-)

after two weeks of ownership, I must say that I'm impressed with overall quality... movement finish is superb and it keeps excellent time (+/- 3 sec per day with 48hr power reserve) rotor is very quiet! got my hands on a previously owned ultimate 212 and the dial lacks the depth of this one. but for some reason, the ultimate looks a little bigger that v.3 ?!? feels like the case set is a totally different one as casebacks are not interchangeable. :-(

For what is it is worth, the waterdrop test was leaning towards sapphire... But I will try to have it checked with a diamond tester and will let you know!

it is v3 really nice overall! :-) now for the flaws: Ar is on the strong side and caseback doesn't have any serial numbers...
