czammett Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 Just bought a strap from Red12. I shouldn't have any worries about UK customs should i? Any tips as to the labelling?
greg_r Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 There's a possibility you may get charged duty - depends on how the paperwork is marked. You needn't worry about confiscation or that kinda thing, obviously, as the strap is a perfectly legal item. (Mind you, UK customs don't care about reps either unless you're bringing 'em in by the boatload).
czammett Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 yeah, I'm wondering what value i should put on it?
czammett Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 it would be tracked I think. the other option I have is someone bringing it back for me. Obviously a lot safer!
metaljesus Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 Acutally as I understand it having someone carry it in for you doesnt change the fact that legally your still suppost to pay tax on it. Of course the odds of your friend having their luguage searched and asked for proof of purchase is somewhat slim Mark it as less than 30 quid worth and no one will look at it twice. Even if they open the package up theyd have no reason to think it worth more than that. Unless there is a receipt in it or its insured for a large amount.
gregers Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Might be wrong but I can't remember anyone having problems with UK customs. Unless it's something really blatant that they can pull up, they are not all that interested - much bigger fish to catch than rep tiddlers.
