RWG Technical Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 New dial installed, and an actual working new DW as well. What do you think?
tanya Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Looks awesome love my swiss 188, but I'm looking at mine and perhaps my eyes aren't well trained to my new watch yet, but what are the differences in the dials?
RWG Technical Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 Sorry, no artsyfartsy pics, the photographer is out with a headach, so you had to do with my photo skills. No one has figured this one out yet...
RWG Technical Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 relumed? No, not touched. Hands have been relumed to match... More guesses???
robertk Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Well, if this was your original dial it was the early silver one and this is the updated white dial. If I'm right that means the original bezel was OK size wise? I have both the original silver (bought around the same time as yours) and the newer updated dial version (from Eddie Lee) hence, my uneducated guess?
cskent69 Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 The Zigmeister, I am betting: 1. Old Case 7753 2. New Crown 3. New dial from the latest 7753 4. Where did that DW come from - looks better than Lello's, is it Finepics? Beauty. Was it an original 7753 or a transplant?
tanya Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Ok unless I'm completely brain dead from this ridiculous Cali heat and whatever is in the air here that makes most of it's residents vapid, shallow, morons, I'd say it's the same dial that rests in my brand new Swiss 188, crown looks different, either you popped in a palp or a gen. case looks a bit worn in so I would imagine it is the more sought after old school EL case. Since i know Leo hasn't made his new 7753 wheels yet (As Bollo, Sylar and myself are recieving the first inaugrial perfected 7753 wheels) I'd say it's a nice lello So: new 188 7753 dial- same as mine Old school case lello or gen date wheel Palp or gen crown do I win a prize????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
RWG Technical Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 We are getting much closer, but still missing one important piece of the puzzle, I'll fill in the following: It's not my old 188 with the silver dial... Old case 7753 Lello DW Gen Crown and new tube (I manufactured to accept the gen crown) Hands lumed And what about that dial??
blackbard Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I looked at mine... There appears to be more space between the numbers on the dial and the dots? New dial installed, and an actual working new DW as well. What do you think?
blackbard Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Dial also looks matt instead of glossy? New dial installed, and an actual working new DW as well. What do you think?
cc Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Only the best Genuine dial. Perfectly recessed subdials.
robertk Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Only the best Genuine dial. Perfectly recessed subdials. I think you're right!
jitai Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 (edited) Gen dial?? The tells are the larger sub dials and bolder sub dial indices. Another tell will be the numeral 8 which is place near to the running second subdial at nine. The placement of the numeral 8 on the rep dial is further away from the running second subdial at nine. Example of a 188 rep dial with 7753 Edited July 4, 2009 by jitai
RWG Technical Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 Only the best Genuine dial. Perfectly recessed subdials. Right on, you win the prize (an extra drop of oil in your next servicing) well done! I was sure it would stand out like a sore thumb, goes to show how good the reps are.
cskent69 Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 The Zigmeister, It was the angle of the picture that threw me off - Damn, I was wondering about that dial..... The numbers were placed too nicely. Where did you score that???? Congrats. I will be sending my 188 to you for a gen crown install. Please remember that procedure!
takashi Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 The lume is a bit flatter on the genuine dial. Am I right to say that?
cc Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Right on, you win the prize (an extra drop of oil in your next servicing) well done! I was sure it would stand out like a sore thumb, goes to show how good the reps are. Closest 188 I've seen yet. Can't get any better than this. Excellent franken R
evo5555 Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 damn.... i was searching high n low for it!!!!....
Watchmeister Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Couldn't resist - gen with the same date listed on the bay today:
RWG Technical Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 Couldn't resist - gen with the same date listed on the bay today: Too bad they didn't line the hands up as nicely as I did...note the main seconds off to the right but the 30 minute counter off to the left...gen's...who needs them...
