warbird
Hey guys, just a quick question: Are the dials and cases of the base Panerai models (like the 003a and the 005) interchangable? So if I stick a 003 dial in a 005, would it be in the right case? (I know that the crownguard should be polished and that the caseback will probably have the wrong engravings but otherwise?) Besides that does DSN sell dials seperatly? Thanks in advance, Tim
FxrAndy
They are to a point One thing i know that you CAN NOT do is put the dial from a lefty in a righty as the dial feet dont fit, Yes i think DSN does sell dials individualy
ubiquitous
It will depend on the case. A DSN dial will likely be too big if you're using a case like a Jimmy; you may need to trim the dial down in order to ensure correct fit. Only way to know for sure is to drop the existing dial/movement out of the case and try fitting the new dial in the case. If it seats against the rehaut lip, you should be good to go. MarkJ
Tim, The dial should be interchangable but I have seen slight diameter differences on the underside of the bezel where the dial comes into contact. If you are using the same case maker, you'll be Ok. If different, you might have problems with the dial diameter if it's too big and fails to rest firmly. In that case, you'd have to mill down the dial slightly. Edited August 12, 2009 by MarkJ
warbird
Thanks guys! I'll try and contact DSN if he'd just sell me a dial without the rest.
ubiquitous
That's one of the best things about buying from DSN- Getting parts from him is no big deal.

David is very good about just selling parts and has helped me tremendously over the years
