HEWLIO
Are all vintage daytonas Paul Newmans? Or are just the ones with multi colored faces paul newmans and the all black and white ones are regular daytonas? and the pushers too. Thanks
AllergyDoc
It's a complicated story... Paul Newman never wore one with a colored dial. Here's a couple of interesting links: http://doubleredseadweller.com/ http://www.qualitytyme.net/pages/rolex_articles/30daytona.html
freddy333
There are a number of differences between Newmans & standard Daytonas, but the easiest tell are the square markers. If there are square markers in each of the subdials, then it is a Newman. If there are no squares, then it is a standard Daytona. Newman dials were offered as options in vintage Daytonas beginning with the 6239 & continuing until (but not including) the 16520. The 2 on the ends are Newmans (note the square markers in the subdials) while the 1 in the center is not
Chronus
The way I think of it in my head is that 2 of the subdials look like targetting sights. As freddy said, it's all in the subdials. Personally I like the Newman dials as they are just that little bit different and look great
