Guys and Rolli ,

I am thinking to start a new project. A PAM 024A

(see Rolli's link here: http://www.rwgforum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=20888 )

... Rolli , hope you dont mind.

The question is which is the best out of the box rep to get and from which dealer , in order to use it a "base" watch the modification ??

Apart from the SS polished besel and case (I think case is also polished), what else needs to done .... especially on the dial to get it wright ??

Rolli , pop in pls.

Thanks guys

That watch of Rollie's is an utter stunning time piece.

I don't think anyone does the plain bezel anymore, believe me I've asked around.

A lot of people seem to think you need get one of the Ultimate GMT subs, I forget which one but it has the best cyclopse and date font. And use those parts.

I guess one of the cheifs cyclopse would be good and perhaps one of Leo from RG date wheels could be good.

One can only hope that DSN decides to build a 24A, fingers crossed

Be keen to know if anyone has a good source to start with.

Hi

about the dial, you can get a gen 24a dial here

http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=76677

price is great go for it!!!

and if you want something more cheaper I have one for sell here

I've taken a look in the rolli's one and I think that the combination bezel-dial is not correct for a PAM24 ( A,B or C not sure about D) these series must have the plain bezel and NO metal around the hours.

i think the polished bezel is pretty much correct.

only the metal-rings aound the hour marker dots are wrong.

but this is one of the next furture modification upgrade made by a local well known to me professional dial maker.

and some very nice surprises will follow.

you can be excited.

To the best of my knowledge the proper base watch is not available anywhere. The only one currently for sale has the wrong notched bezel ('D' year going forward) and a shadow caseback of not so hot quality. On the old watch (if you're lucky to source one) this is what you'll want to do, presuming you're going with all rep parts:

- Polish the bezel & pips

- Flatten & polish cannon pinion cap on the hand stack

- T48 SS crown w/ 1.2mm stem + drilled out crown tube if you're replacing w/ ETA7750

- T48 SS crown w/ 0.9mm stem + drilled out crown tube if you're doing Asia 7750

- Tritium-like patina re-lume (Flav/Kent Parks/The Zigmeister)

- Remove bucket rings from round indexes on the dial

- Switch xtal with 199 Ult. xtal (otherwise you'll want a Chief cyclops to replace the stock cyclops)

- Remove AR if you're doing 199 Ult. xtal swap

- Datewheel upgrade (you can do Lello, new Leo or take the one from 199 ult. it's not bad)

- Refinish the CG pin, tighten lever adjust fitment to case if necessary.
