IWC Ingenieur - Date wheel

AMK000

Recommended Posts

I think it's going to be a long shot.

If I understand and remember correctly, there are 2 versions to his datewheel.

The first version will have alignment issue (either the date number sit too high or low or leans more towards the left in the date window.

The second batch is the improved version.

I got mine through a trade but it came with the first version and the date number leans towards the left more.

My watch smith told me that the datewheel is fixed and can't be adjusted or re-aligned.

In the end, he solved my problem by filing off some areas on the left side of the date window to make the date look centered.

Here's the result.

* Not all watch smith is willing to do this as it may damage the dial. Anyway, I manage to talk through my watch smith after several rounds of trying.

It is a great looking watch and feel ight and comfy to wear.

I improved it further by popping in a factory double ARed crystal (got it from silix) and it looks good.

Hope the info helps

Thanks Jitai ,

I think is not only an allingment issue but also and mainly the type of the "numbers" used in the date wheel.

Mine has round numbers (which is wrong)and genuine has kind of a (big) "square" numbers.

I think Lello had some good date wheels in the past (approriate for the IWC Ing) but not any more.

I had a look on Ofrei's but he doesn't carry any.

Anybody knows any other source where they supply these ?

  • 5 weeks later...

Got one, in my gen but i think it would be a waste to swap it to a rep.

*s*

Good one :)

I am saving my pennies to buy a gen movement from concepta. my 2824 died, so I thought why the hell not. So save me one concepta, you will be getting a call one day.

You are beginning to be my biggest client!

Does that mean i have to send you christmas cards? ;-)

Remember that You must know if You have a eta 2824-2 OR a Eta 2836-2 because I think the (datewheel) are not the same size????

And there is both 2824-2 AND 2836-2 in the ingys.

Correct. 2836 has a taller, more raised profile datewheel whereas the 2824 datewheel is relatively flat in comparison.

Diameter is the same, however...
