metaljesus
Hey folks, Can anyone tell me approximately how much running time I should get out of a manual wound Asian Swan Neck movement? I've been using the search function for about 20 minutes and cant find any reviews. I'm using a movement serviced by The Zigmeister about 2 years ago. Thanks for the help
Drulee
40 to 42 hours is normal EDIT: My mistake, 46 to 48 is normal for low-beat, 56 for high beat.
metaljesus
Thanks Drulee, About how many turns of the crown are needed to get it fully wound?
metaljesus
Just realised it needs to be wound about 40 times and then stops. Sorry, im not used to these manuals ...
FxrAndy
56 hours if fully wound
Drulee
56 hours if fully wound If your 6497 manages to get that much of a power reserve, don't ever give it up Even ETA says to only expect 40 hours, but I have a few that make 48 to 52 hours, but I've never heard of 56 - that is one finely tuned movement
FxrAndy
I think you have your movements mixed up I know this is the swiss 18000 version but the asian 21600 will give 56hrs as well ETA 6498-1 (Unitas 6498-1) Features stem wind and set sub second Data 16.5''', Dm= 36.6mm, H= 4.5mm 17 jewels f = 18000 A/h power reserve 56h Now if the question had been 2824 ETA 2824-2 Features automatic sweep second date: quickset option: hack feature Data 11.5''', Dm= 25.6mm, H= 4.6mm (H= 4.7mm with ball bearing) 17/21/25 jewels f = 28800 A/h power reserve 40h

Drulee
Yeah, that's the high beat - the standard 6497-1 is 46hrs (sorry thought it was 40hrs for some reason, too many numbers going around in my head I guess). Anyway I just checked the ETA data sheet and low beat is 46hrs, high beat 56hrs. One easy way of telling if yours is low or high beat is by comparing the teeth on the centre wheel against another of a known beat - the one with tighter grouped teeth (meaning more) is high beat, the one with less teeth (or more space in between them) is low beat. The Asian movements are on par with their ETA counterparts as far as power reserve is concerned.
