panerairep
Hey guys, I had the the minute hand come out on a Power Reserve. So I got the rubber bal off ebay and tried to fix it myself. Got the hand back on but managed to crack the link that holds the crown. Part of it is still attached the movement and part is still in the crown/ Looks like it broke right in the middle. I called the local jeweler but he wont work on reps and one that ive already had apart. Is there a sponsor of this site I can send it to for repair? Im bummed, loved this watch. Pardon the quality of pics,I just snapped some quick pics from my cell phone. Ill get better ones if you need.
blackbard
There are a couple folks on the site that can fix. Check the repair section and several names will pop up. If the stem broke, you can depress the stem release button to remove the half still in the watch movement and order a replacement stem or just send to one of the modders/repairmen on the site. Thanks! yes, the stem is broke. I was calling it a link. It is what links the crown to the movement, the stem, correct? Forgive me, Im new. I did check the repair section and see three sponsors, which all seem to be about modifying. I havent seen anything to do with repairs. Can you please point me in the right direction, have a link? blackbard
Most popular is The Zigmeister. I use Rex from RG, but mostly make these types of repairs myself. Removing and repairing the stem is one of the easiest and since you have decased the movement, you are over the hard part. Do a quick search in the repair mods section for how to remove the stem. Basically, you depress the button where the stem enters the movement slightly and the stem will come out. Next unscrew the broken stem from the crown. Measure a new stem and cut. Screw new stem into crown. Gently insert stem and crown into movement until it "snaps in". Done.

blackbard
Pliers usually only. Most times it is a little glue that holds it. Just grab the crown with one hand and the stem with the needlenose pliers and turn counter clockwise. Eventually, it will come out.
blackbard
Make sure you remove the crown guard first, and remove the stem from the case. I assumed you did that part first but saw your pictures and maybe this is why you broke it in the first place?

I assumed you did that part first but saw your pictures and maybe this is why you broke it in the first place? yep I didnt remove crown guard and the reason its broke. I just got a set of small screwdrivers and while they fit, cant get the screws on the crown to budge. good news is the stem is out of both the movement and the crown thanks to you! now how do i get the crown guard screws out and when do I purchase a new stem? thanks for all of your help. this site rocks! blackbard
Stem and screwdriver-here or the bay. Or if you want high quality at a high price: Ofrei or Cousins in UK. Ebay has good products if you know what to get. Just order a stem from a 7750 and that should work. Generic micro drivers should work on the crown guard but not on the movement. You can get those at Radioshack or microcenter if you are near one of those....
