FxrAndy
DSN capped hands, used to be the solution
HeadToucha
Thanks Andy, my memory was to shave down the hands or something like that ? But if it means new parts to buy i guess a new 6497 with H3(like Getat) will be almost cheaper & i will have an extra movement.
FxrAndy
You can thin down the hand tube a bit
HeadToucha
Thanks for the precision, but it's beyond my watch skills i guess i will take the easy Getat solution
babola
Davidsen used to make thinner dials for years, the ones that wouldn't require H3 cannon pin / hour wheel install as the hands posts will be made artificially higher. These were primarily base dials, not Marina dials as no matter how thin the dial the hour hand on those would catch against the sub-second hand and ultimately scratch and damage it. That's the only high cannon pin upgrade alternative that I know of. The capped hands looked a bit off with the "nipple" effect in the middle, which was silly. If you care about your watches and have attention to detail, only the right way would do it...meaning upgrade to H3 CP and hour wheel, as well as flattening and polishing the CP top. cheers, b
HeadToucha
Thanks babola BTW, is the CP top supposed to be totally flat in gen ? i can't tell for sure looking at pictures.
babola
Thanks babola BTW, is the CP top supposed to be totally flat in gen ? i can't tell for sure looking at pictures. Correct, mate. Sometimes light reflection of the polished top surface on some photos would distort the actual flat finish. cheers, b
