leowyatt
I bought a PAM 005 logo from Narikka and am very happy with it but I'd like to make it just that bit better. Initial ideas are to change the caseback as it shouldn't have a clear one and get it relumed. Anything else anyone would suggest? Given this is my first PAM rep I don't want to go too crazy with it. The movement in it does tick rather loudly, Reg said they are known for being noisy but I wondered if there would be anyway to make it quieter? txcollector
- get a G series caseback from DSN - The logo seems too thick but nothing you can do about it. - Can't really see the AR, crown and CG but those are usually mods you would need to do - Lume is probably a good idea - Can't really see well but the cannon pin probably needs modification as well Noisy movements are a pain. Many Asians do that. The Swiss usually do not (at least the ones I own). Not sure if there's anything to do other than replacing the movement. Here's my rep for your reference. leowyatt
I can do some pics of the crown and CG for you later. Should the watch have AR?
txcollector
All gens have a single side AR which is very subtle. The rep AR is very low quality and usually very blue. That's a big tell. Most people just remove the AR completely rather than keep the bad AR. I personally prefer to get Chief double AR and remove the outside coat. leowyatt
I was thinking of getting on the Chief AR when he does his next run. If I was going to replace the movement would I need to get a new dial, hands etc?
txcollector
I wouldn't replace the movement. You said you don't want to go overboard. New dial/hands/movement (plus probably crown, CG, lume) etc would be better just to buy parts and build one.
leowyatt
heh very true, that would probably be going overboard! I think I'll start with a relume first and go from there.
Drulee
You may want to just get the solid case back from DSN, reluming, and nice replacement strap - like the on in tx's first pic. You'd be surprised what a difference a good strap can make
leowyatt
Ah yeah forgot to mention the caseback will certainly be getting one of those, will keep an eye out in the tools and parts section. Hopefully one will come up in the near future.

You'd be surprised what a difference a good strap can make well that JV probably costs more than the watch Caseback, relume. Send pics of the CG. There may be simple things to make it better too. Drulee
Forgot to mention, the fully serviced ETA in my 111H rep is one of the noisiest movements I've got.
leowyatt
I'll get some proper macro pictures of the CG tonight when I can use the right lens. The ones I'm getting now are very grainy and naff. Thanks for the reassurance Drulee as I'm glad to know that any movement can be noisy
