Rose Gold Elgin Pocket Watch

Recommended Posts

Hello. A co-worker of mine brought in a stunning Elgin Rose Gold Pocket watch. It's a family heirloom that was given as a gift in 1887 (according to the engraved inscription inside the back flap). They were wondering if it is worth anything and I said I didn't really know, but I know of an amazing place to find out such information!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I haven't got pics, but if anyone is interested in seeing some pics, I would be happy to shoot some.

If anyone here has any thoughts or information, I would really appreciate it. Movement winds up really nicely, and the second hand sweep is smooth.

Thanks RWG!!! :D

Is your friend certain it's solid gold? The most common kind of watch you're going to see in that era from Elgin is a rose gold filled "25 Year" case .. guaranteed 25 years against the gold plate rubbing off.

I have one as well with a fabulous 3-finger bridge and china white dial with silver Fleur d'lis embossed around it. I think I overpaid a little @ $400
