Is there better way to fix this ETA 2824 movement without removing the dial off?

Hi experts,

I recently removed the crown and stem off my ETA 2824 movement. Now I can't put it back it right. The stem will go in but won't allow me to pull it out to set the time and date. I was told it's a common issue with the movement design. It can be fixed by removing the hands and dial and getting underneath of the dial to "reset" the mechanism that locks the stem. This is certainly a solution, but I would much rather to fix the problem (if there is any other way) without removing the hands and dials because this could increase the risk of damaging the hands and dial. Any thoughts/tips are much appreciated!

Not 100% certain, but I do not believe you can get to the reset lever from underneath the movement. I am pretty sure you will have to approach it from the top. I'll defer to the experts though, but that is just my hunch.

I know. I'm just hoping for any ways like picking a lock at the entry of the stem to reset the lever without taking the dial off... :)

Thanks for the input!

Unfortunatly the only way to reset your keyless work is from the dial side and no other, To avoid this happening in the future always remove the stem with it in the hand set position.

thatas the one! remove the crown only in the hand set position on 2824/36/34/46 (and some others but i cant remember every calibre number) movements
