3chibis
Hi guys, First off, thanks to the mods and vets for doing it day and day out...for the love. I be a newbie to the rep world, but have had extensive experience with pam gens since '02, so feel free to PM me anytime. Just took delivery of my ReplicaMake.com Mare Nostrum (PAM300) - Lay was great, received the standard a. pick and b. video for approval and it came to the US in less than 5 days. Dial: + Clean execution; surprising - Fonts and color are off, but instead of explaining > google magic. Lume: + Weakest link, but expected - Applied to dial fair>well ***Notice the swelling at the bottom of the 1 of "12" - No biggie and unnoticeable until you're breathing on it. The strap on it is a Rob Montana Ammo; but must say the green canvas is quality as well as the buckle and I wear it regularly. Pleasantly surprised here despite rep's being notorious for falling short on the strap end.. 2 thumbs up. Scuzzi boyas no pics of the green canvas. Case & Bezel: The knurling on the bezel, as pointed out by our esteemed "greg r" leaves us wanting, but unless you've held the original, it is a non-issue in my opinion. The case seems well executed, but I can't remember any major differences from when I held the gen. The strap (brown or black) system is the standard long pin with an endcap; super risky if you're the clumsy type; easy to lose those little buggers. Still, I do prefer these types to springbars. I did forget movement pictures, however, again, you will not disappointed here. She winds up true and is keeping time well for now. Minute and Middle seconds work as they should. Overall: 4/5 and a recommended buy. If they can get the fonts and color right, woo wii. What say you Davidsen? DSN PAM300 and I'm putting my d#$% in the mashed potatoes! What do you all think? Post 'em if you got 'em. P.S. If anyone has pics of a PWC Ultimate Fiddy or can enlighten moi about the differences vs DSN, please please PM me or post. Cheers. PeteM
Despite its flaws it is a nice watch in its own right I have mine away being ARd and lumed correctly!! As for the colours fortunately given the scarcity of them I think its unlikely to be noticed by many fortunately !! I think just like the current gen it is an homage to the real Mare Nostrum !! PS Welcome 3chibis, always good to get gen knowledge on the forum
3chibis
Pete mate, Do not forget to post the AR and lume job and yes, you put it succinctly that it's such a fine homage to the real deal, its discrepancies are non-issue and mellesimatiom too few for anyone to even get. That ain't the point; we love rocking the bigness; a winner.
