vlydog Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 After having a German day-wheel installed in my franken 3717, I noticed a differences in color and possible texture between the day wheel and the date wheel. The date wheel was a brighter black with a soother texture where as the German day wheel was a more flat black with a texture very similar to the gen dial. Has anyone else noticed this difference? I remember seeing a post about this. Does IWC use their own date/day discs that are different from the ETA versions?
modelizer Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I have noticed that too. I think it might have to do with the fact that IWC no longer offers any other language than English on their own day wheels (they do have their own with a slight difference from the standard ETA). If I remember correctly this stopped right before the release of the 3717.
ryaku Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I also noticed IWC datewheels are a little different from ETA ones: very small differences though, for example number 7 is not exactly the same Number 4 is larger than ETA's Again, really slight differences hard to notice
FxrAndy Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I was looking at a box of different gen ETA 7750 date and day wheels and there were differences in those as well so it may not just be IWC, there are differences in batches from ETA as far as i can see
modelizer Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Good to know Andy. Better order them in pairs then to minimize the risk of getting different colour/texture on them.
FxrAndy Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 It may still be hit and miss but the differences are not that great only people like us see them to be honest
HauteHippie Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 ETA and IWC are slightly different. Texture, I don't know. Font, yes. I've got IWC day and date wheels arriving soon. Some day, perhaps, I'll provide side by side pics.
