sly
Hi Guys, Anybody know if the 1570 is the appropiate movement for the 5512. I have a 1570 no date movement and know someone who is selling me a service dial and hands. Let me know. Thanks Sly
freddy333
Yes. 5512 came with 1 of these - 1530, 1560 or 1570 (which movement depends on date of manufacture).
sly
Thanks Freddy, do you have an idea on what years the 1570 was fitted or does it vary.
freddy333
Rolex does not release that type of info, but I believe the 1530 was the 1st movement fitted (1959 until around 1962 or so). The 1560 was also used (more or less interchangeably with the 1530) until about the early-mid 1960s & I believe the 1570 was used from the mid-1960s until the end of the series (1978-ish). sly
Thanks Again, So I can base this build on a 1974 5512/1570 movement.
freddy333
That is the movement to use if you are building a mid-70s 5512.
sly
Freddy or other experts. One more question. Yuki site says 5512 case fits 1520/1530, Will a 1570 drop in also on the yuki case. Thanks, Sly
freddy333
Yuki site says 5512 case fits 1520/1530, Will a 1570 drop in also on the yuki case. Unless someone else here has direct experience fitting movements other than what is specified, I would direct that type of question to Yuki. That said, I can tell you that both the 1520 & 1570 are based on the 1530 & all 3 calibers' measure 28.5mm x 5.75mm, so, in theory, they should be interchangeable in a properly proportioned case. However, I do not know if there are differences in stem & other component alignments.
