seppili Posted April 2, 2011 Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 Hello everyone, I was so happy when my first Panerai (purchased from a trusted dealer) arrived yesterday. Unfortunately I could see scratches on the dial right away. They are caused by the second hand which is too low on one end. I really need some advice as it is my first 'ultimate' rep and I am quite disappointed. What should I do? Do you think the scratches are permanent or do you think that a watchsmith will be able to fix this? I do not really want to spend money on a watchsmith who will not be able to help... . But whatever the dealer tells you, they will probably simply replace the dial and send it back. Do not accept this type of slip-shot quality the dealers send out. seppili Posted April 2, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 2, 2011 I just would like to say that the dealer has been very helpful so far - I am not complaining about him - I just did not know how to deal with issues like these as I am new here. I do not think that the dealer saw the scratch as it is caused by the moving second hand and it is getting more prominent as time goes by. It will probably stop scratching at some point. Thank you for pointing out that you would ask him to change the watch for a new one. I guess the old one should arrive in China before he sends a new one - right? If you do YOUR part right, the only crap you are stuck with is the stuff that the factory didn't get right designwise. OP: you are out of luck mate.. Ask if you can get a new watch when you send yours back with tracking or ask for a new dial and get it replaced yourself. Otherwise Jkay is probably right with his estimation.
