offshore
The horrible disaster is now having its effect, even on the watch business. Just received notification that Japanese capacitors/accumulators are in short supply, and will remain so indefinetly. Gotta wonder what effect it has had on production lines at Seiko and Citizen, and in parts supply to a multitude of other watch makers who use their movements and other supplies. My man tells me that capacitors will be VERY scarce for a long time, and there is some downturn in battery production, although battery plants in other countries are taking up some of the slack ( Read China) So all those who have demanded Japanese manufactured batteries, and shun Chinese, are going to have no option in the future. I know that Toyota in Australia has gone to half shift in their vehicle assembly plants...wonder how many other industries are being hurt by lack of component or material supplies? StormTooper4
A client of mine Subaru has not had any cars delivered since the disaster. No Goods means no Sales means very limited cash flow. Yes the influence is quite far reaching.
