My other present in the mail

JEKS

Recommended Posts

OK, so along with my new DRSD came the BKLM DSSD that I asked BK to send to PB for some mods. PB did the following in addition to BKs work;

  • satin varnish on dial
  • varnish pearl
  • seal HEV
  • single AR
  • buff bracelet

As usual, the results are excellent from these two detailed gents.

The noobfactory DSSD already comes complete with a clear domed pearl which is very nice .. or am I misunderstanding.

Take a nice new microfiber cloth to that watch and get the buffing compound off of everything and it should look great.

OK, I thought he did the pearl too, but maybe not, I'll check with him.

As for the compound, you may have a point. I'll have to see if the black stuff on the clasp is just compound and will come off easily.

I am not sure if this one is a keeper for me yet. I've got my new DRSD (keeper!), a black 16610 BKLM sub with WM9 dial and hands and this DSSD. I also have an LV with gen crystal, insert and crown on the way from BK as well. I'm going to try to pare down the collection to only two Rollies, but it may be hard. Basically, if I find the LV a better fit for me than the black sub, which is one of my main two watches (the other is a PAM232), then either the black sub or the DSSD will likely go. Decisions, decisions... I had one of the BK YMs but decided that was def. not my style, so off it went. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with three Rollies. Reps are a disease. There should be a disclaimer!

The waxy swirls on the insert, bracelet, case-back nut and the black junk are all buffing compound .. just buff it with a dry microfiber cloth and you will have a 100% clean watch.

BTW there are Gens with both gloss and matte dials. There was a gen v1 update at some point, and the dials changed finish. There have been Gen dial photos posted here in both matte and gloss.

Congrats on a great watch! I have BKs Sub C as a daily beater. Theres only one inaccuracy in ceramic Subs and it is maxi hands, esp the hour hand that have to be more "pointy". Other than that its a gorgeous timepiece.

Wear it in good health!
