Swiss movement in your 312/328/359? Think Again!

Sorry you found out the hard way but the minute you start making movements do what they were not supposed to do or look very different from the original base movement you now lose the upgrade capability and are now stuck with the Asian "jury rigged" movement. So get it serviced and enjoy it. :)

Thanks for the heads up.....I have a 328L too which I believe has an identical movement on a 312 and wanted (at some point later) to get a ETA 7750 for it.....

However what is the modification on an Asian7750 that has been done to fit into a 312/328?

Do you know the exact reason why it wont... Diameter.. thickness etc?

Have you sought a second opinion.... with all respect to Vac a few other watchsmiths are more geared to adapting/machining cases and movements etc..

My guess (and a guess it is) is that there are certain pieces they add to make it look aesthetically closer to the gen which changes the overall thickness and also requires you bastardizing the swiss movement to add the asian parts. Ziggy went through hell years ago converting an HBB for me to a Swiss based movement. It may be able to be done but by the time you are done adding the plates and other required parts from the Asian movement you have a mishmash.

I reckon your right mate.... but I have heard in a few instances that a little machining has cured the issue... but in no way am I saying that is the case here...

I guess all I mean is.... dont give up on your hopes just yet... a second opinion from someone more use to these issues might be able to help or draw a line under your aspirations..

Congrats again W... on hitting the big 10K mate :) Its been a real pleasure and inspiration for me having you around mate :) I wouldnt have learnt half the stuff I have without help from a guy like you

Thank you :)

Pete-

You are too kind. And you may be right on fitting the movement to the case. of course it will all be about the spacing between the dial and the stem (crown tube). What I find frustrating on these type of mods is that by the time you add the Asian pieces you end up with a Swasian mess. :)

Funny new word "Swasian" LOL

Out of curiosity, would you have bought the 312 had you known this was not possible?

I'm sitting on the fence hoping for a new version of the 312 but not sure what they would improve as the current version is pretty good.

Honestly no. I really want a reliable watch.

Had I known I would have gotten another PO. Movement is REALLY REALLY important to me. I am still not sure if I want to keep the asian movement even with the service.
