vikkyrob Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 I have a beautifully modded IWC 5004 big pilot that has re-lumed dial and hands, serviced movement, gen strap and deployant etc etc but I have the standard glass and it has been scratched. I need to get a new sapphire crystal and then I will send it to Uwe for double AR treatment. Does anyone know where I can get a new crystal? Cheers Rob
Texski Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 I am not certain, but you might want to try a watch supplier like Cousins, and see if a pocket watch crystal might work. It is hard to find larger than 33.0. And don't forget about a fresh gasket. Good Luck, Mike
rockrover Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 I would think the shortest (and cheapest) distance between two points here would be to buy a new rep and swap...Unless Angus can source one for you.
Klockis Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Are You sure its the crystal that are scratched and not the AR? If its the AR then Uwe just need to strip the old AR and apply new.

vikkyrob Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 I have sent a message asking Uwe for a new crystal and then get him to double AR it. Unfortunately the crystal has got a deep scratch not just the AR. Cheers Rob
drolson Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I´m absolutely sure that it the 5004 has just a mineral cristal, mine had two deep scraches after day of normal wear. But after an hour of polishing with diamond paste (and sore finger tips) they´re gone. So if it´s not possible to buy a new one maybe that might be a way to go. On the other side I might be interested in buying a sapphire crystal, so if there is a source....
