I might be buying this TODAY for USD 1000 and would appreciate your opinion - is it gen? I believe so.

Not too sure of the crystal though (according to seller it was recently replaced).

its a DATE = small it looks okay - but i would not buy it without an naked pic (open case-back to see condition of the movement and case ...)

Ditto. This is a Rolex Date (not Datejust) & I would not buy any Rolex without a good, clear movement pic.
