DSSD Crystal Problem

Recommended Posts

I recently received an Ultimate DSSD, but unfortunately, it arrived with a pretty major issue. The crystal seems to be pressed in crooked. It's flush where it meets one side of the bezel, but sticks about 1mm higher on the opposite side. Is there any way to fix this and can I do it myself? If so, what tools would I need? Other than that issue, the watch looks excellent.

I discovered this site while researching the seller and he received several positive reviews, but I did not become aware of the 'trusted seller' list until after my purchase. I was also interested in a couple other watches, but am now very hesitant with this quality control issue. Are imperfections like this common with reps, or could I avoid these issues by purchasing from the 'trusted sellers' listed on this site?

Thanks, in advance, for any help!

If you bought from one of our trusted dealers here, you would be able to send it back for another new watch. I'ts easy to miss things like this even with

Pc. pics. I don't know the dealer and I don't feel it's your responsibility to have to go to the trouble to get it fixed...

That why our dealers give you a basic delivery of a quality watch.. If they fxxk up, it's their liability ti get you a new watch.. Case closed! ;)

This is a common issue with the DSSD. That is why BK makes such a big deal about QC'ing the crystals on the DSSDs he sells.

You need to pop out the crystal, check that the crystal gasket is not damaged and re-press the crystal into place *properly* ... this is just a matter of the assembler at the factory being lazy.

Who is the dealer where you purchased the DSSD?? There are no secrets.. Your watch has a problem! :)

Thanks for all the help. It's greatly appreciated. I purchased this from Henry at Tswisstime.com. I have contacted him, but he does not respond. What's the best way to handle this situation if he doesn't respond? I paid with a credit card, can I file a complaint with my credit card company?

Here's a link to the thread I found before purchasing the watch (I didn't find the trusted dealer list until after I placed this order. I wish I'd purchased from BK!):

Do you have any watchmakers locally?

I have had a number of these show up on the bench, not one has proven to be a match for a high quality crystal press and dies, all the crystals were pressed and seated correctly.

If you are using a cheap press and/or cheap dies it can be a problem getting the crystal to seat.

The watch doesn't even have to be taken apart nor the bracelet removed to press the crystal flush. Try someone locally, not a "Mall Watchmaker" who knows squat, someone with the proper tools...

Good luck.

Thanks for all the help and advice everyone! I finally heard back from the seller and he instructed me to return the item so he can fix it. I'm not sure if he will cover the cost of return shipping or how long this all will take, and I also told him I wanted a new watch because there is a small issue with the clasp as well. I'll post again with the outcome.

I've read a lot of threads this past week and have learned a considerable amount from this site. I'd like to thank all the posters for providing such excellent information.

Best wishes to all!

Thanks again. Does anyone know of a jeweler in the Boulder, CO area who could press this back in, or advise me how to find one that won't have a problem working on reps? There are a lot of high-end shops around here and I don't want to get in a situation where someone throws a fit because this is a rep.
