bamcky2k
what the question says really, I have a gen eta date wheel I bought a while back but never fitted it, I now have a spare asian 2836-2 movement in a watch and was wondering if anyone knew if I can fit the date wheel to it or does it need a specific date wheel? im pretty sure the 2836-2 is day/date (the watch its fitted to just uses the date), is it best to just get an eta 2836-2 day/date wheel? asking before i spend the time stripping the watch incase it wont fit! answers much appreciated! krpster
No dice. As you mentioned, with the day function the front side of the 2836 makes it different from the 2824. The 2824 DW is pretty flat while the 2836 has a rise in it to allow clearance to the day function works. The backside is where these two movements are common. kbh
The dw's are different but I think the 2824 will fit on a 2836 and vice versa after you take off the day wheel and the day corrector wheel from the 2836.
krpster
I think you are right kbh but then I think that the date will be a little sunken. This is because the lip around the movement is deeper on the 2836 to keep the dial clear of the normal works on the front side.
kbh
I've found the bigger problem is having the dw overlay hit the back of the dial. Anyway, it's much easier to raise the dw than to try and force it all together when it's too tight.
